Guys, I've got this crazy idea that buying a ps3 with xillia and second hand Graces F Day one edition is a good idea.

Talk me out of it please.

Or alternatively convince me that this is actually a good idea so I'll feel less bad about spending more money on a console than the combined cost of games I'll ever play on it.

The obvious solution would be... to also get other good PS3 games! I'd be surprised if there isn't anything else you would like.

^Basically what Ryu said, I think you'll probably find a lot that you love on the system. My most used systems are my handhelds and my PS3, my Wii is like slowly dying but I don't care very much, and my 360 never sees the light of day xD

Surely there's also other games you'd play on the PS3, Slivster?

What others have said. This isn't the 360, it actually has games. Good ones.
And a very comfortable controller.

ToGf, ToX, and Ni no Kuni. Potentially ToX2 as well. And that's just off the top of my head. There are plenty of great PS3 games.

Plus it plays Blu-Rays, assuming you don't already have a Blu-Ray player.

Thank you all! I'm still a bit undecided on whether to go ahead and buy it or not (especially because save for Graces, Xillia (2), the possible Symphonia HD remaster and Ni No Kuni, I don't know what to get).

But Tenshigami gave me an idea of how to get into my father's wallet.

Blu-Ray player. We don't have one yet.

I can't believe I forgot he tried to talk me into buying a ps2 years ago for the exact same reason.

Watch out then. If you're not careful, he'll start asking why you can't settle for a PS2 instead :p.

I bought my PS3 just for VesPS3. It's now the console I use the most, though I probably haven't played more than ten games max on it. I just play Tales so much I never get in the mood for other games lol. But there are nice things for it, and when I have my own place I'll definitely try to broaden my game library. The PS3 is reaching the end of its generation, but it's a good console, imo. Also yeah, DVD/Blu-ray player is a plus.
