Ladies and gentlemen,

Do you recall those precious childhood moments in which you were truly and utterly bored? Those moments in which you had absolutely nothing to do and didn't feel like doing anything either?

Did you cherish those moments? Because those moments are rare.

Here's a challenge to get you to relive those childhood memories and cherish your boredom:

I dare you to stay bored as long as possible.

Report back on how you did. ;)

It's impossible for me to be completely bored. I'm too easily entertained.

Really? This is actually a pretty common problem for gamers. The whole, "I have nothing to play" phrase accompanied by an image of a wall of games or a huge Steam collection has practically become a meme.

Personally instead of doing something productive (by which I mean, beating a videogame) I tend to browse blogs/my YouTube subscriptions/Reddit...Then when I'm done I try to find something that occupies my attention for a few minutes (usually a video or a few I've already watched before,) then I go back and check everything again for maybe one or two new articles, and repeat. It's a miserable cycle, and it's part of why I take **** forever to beat games/watch anime these days. A game/anime needs to be so **** good to snap me outta that mode.

I'm never bored anymore. Too many things in this world, to many options, too many things I could be doing or making or thinking about.

Now, I may go through the odd state of soul deadening apathy and lethargy culminating in me being able to do absolutely nothing -but that doesn't mean there's nothing to do.

And remember, any time you spend with absolutely nothing to do is time you could spend trying to draw pictures of centipedes. Or looking at pictures of centipedes. Centipedes are scary as hell.

I don't even remember what we were talking about anymore.

THAT CENTIPEDE IS GORGEOUS.

There's really no reason you be bored, you can always topple empires, start new civilizations, climb mountains and explore seas.

Go on a meditative journey of self-discovery in a desert or under a canopy tree. Join a pack or herd of animals and learn to speak their language.

Create a fortress of solitude in the arctic. Create a palace in the amazon rain forest. Split your soul into seven and make some horcruxes to grant yourself dubious immortality, or obtain the Philosopher's Stone!

Plant a garden of exotic wildflowers. Run a marathon. Start a revolution. Learn how to hang glide or base jump. Fly!

Go to outer space. Go back in time. Go forward in time. Rewrite time itself, because why not? Eat chips from a London chippy and round out the day with a banana split. Go shopping without looking at the price tags.

Go to an amusement park and ride all of the roller coasters. Go to a roller rink with glow sticks. Go to a rave. Leave the rave because raves suck. Go to a sushi bar instead.

Do none of those things and read a book. Write a book. Paint a portrait. Airbrush some art on a building wall and then graffiti the same message all over town to make people think it's a conspiracy.

I don't know, man, just live your life. There are a billion in one things you could do, so just...... go out and do them.

You could always pull a move from The Magic School Bus, and explore the inner workings of your classmate's body.

That's always fun.

You people all act as if you don't have jobs or academia to swallow up every single moment of free time. I would give anything to feel bored right now

A few years ago, I was in Ottawa for 3-4 weeks.

Yeah, I was bored...

My roommate was bringing in random girls (from the University we were in to "practice English"). How do I know that? Because I saw something in the garbage can...............................

OH NOOOOO

Anyway, nope. Middle of end-of-degree exams, and after that, I get to subject myself to a lifetime of spending every waking hour serving a thankless ****ty job in some form or another without a moment of leisure time, let alone boredom.
