Looks a little dark (visuals wise) and needs more arm transformations but certainly could have been good. It's a real shame this never made it. _________________ The ember is dust before the wind... |

Uh, read Polygon's headline again. The game was just named Maverick Hunter, followed by "the Mega Man first-person shooter that could have been." _________________

Uhm...So? I don't care.
Just made a thread about it, and a title and info. _________________

Oh, I like the color-coded platforming signals... kind of reminds me of Mirror's Edge. I also like the jump-dash. The design isn't so hot, I would've liked bad box art Mega Man. _________________

Pretty sure the colour coding is just because that's a test level. It certainly looks like one. _________________ The ember is dust before the wind... |

| Geez, that looks like it's Megaman in name only. Like it was trying too hard to be to Megaman what Metroid Prime was to Metroid, yet at the same time losing the adherence to the source material that made Metroid Prime work. |

Ehhhhhh, it kinda seems interesting. Sure, it's definitely not Megaman, but that doesn't mean it would've been another Act Zero. _________________ Count Sophie von Pamcakes says:

I like that they tried to implement actual Mega Man X game mechanics into it, but the transition just doesn't work quite as well as it did with Metroid.
Would've been interesting to play but I'm not exactly mourning over the fact that this got canned. _________________

Could've been really cool if it was a bit more polished
things like charged copy weapons in this would have been awesome and stuff _________________

Well, these were like, alpha builds, so of course they'd be unpolished.
But even for an alpha, it just felt like "generic sci-fi shooter with a blue robot dude" rather than Megaman. I imagine that might have been a factor in canning it. |

I think the fact that it's Mega Man is why they canned it. I forget if I posted about it, but Rockman Online was canceled like last month, so there is literally nothing announced that's Mega Man-related unless you count Project X Zone. _________________

XOver hasn't come over because Capcom knows we think it's a stinking pile of ****.
It's 8bit games forever from here on out. RIP Mega Man. _________________

I swear Capcom is doing this out of spite because Keiji Inafune left. |
