| Quote: | | Ebert, 70, who reviewed movies for the Chicago Sun-Times for 46 years and on TV for 31 years, and who was without question the nation's most prominent and influential film critic, died Thursday in Chicago. He had been in poor health over the past decade, battling cancers of the thyroid and salivary gland. |

I figured a thread was in order.
I often relied on his reviews and though I occasionally disagreed with him, his reviews and essays were consistently interesting and insightful without ever being pretentious. I will genuinely miss going to his site to read his opinions on the latest films.
Vaya con dios Mr. Ebert. _________________

I share Lx2's sentiments exactly. He was a great man, and while I occasionally disagreed with some of the things he had to say, he at least said them in ways that made me think or take a step back, which is something I definitely can't say for the majority of critics. _________________

Have somer gamers' thoughtful opinions on this sad occasion:
| Quote: | @chiatar: Roger Ebert was a dumbass who declared Video Games could never be art. Put the old generation in the ground already
@TheFatConsoler: Roger Ebert didn't think games were art so he can go **** himself anyway
@kaijumakesmoney: Roger Ebert dead. Ummm... 1 less critic to say that video games are not an art form. #ohwell
@Aknorals: I will never forget (or forgive) Ebert for his baseless accusations about video games being incapable of being art. #hypocrisy
@VariantDash: Roger Ebert said video games couldn't be art. I'll never forgive him for that. |

gamers aren't lifeforms capable of thought so you might as well post what a fish has to say about it
In any case, RIP Mr. Ebert. He was always one of those guys that you never thought would die until they did. _________________
