Did you finish the game?
Because there's
| spoiler wrote: | | two worlds in it. Which one do you want to know about, Sylvarant, Tethe'alla or both? |
In any case:
Races:
Humans
Elves
Dwarves
Half Elves (everyone that has both elven and human blood, so they can be the children of other half elves)
Protozoans
And if you count them:
Summon Spirits
Centurions
Monsters
Demons
Politics:
Sylvarant's towns are independent. They're city-states of sorts.
Basically, the poor infrastructure and lack of mana does not allow for the communication and enforcement needed to govern a large area.
Not to mention travelling is dangerous because of all the monsters.
Technology:
There's one steam ship in Palmacosta. It's "a technological marvel" according to the Sylveranti.
Steam power isn't really used for anything else though. Desians on the other hand use machinery which apparently consumed vast amounts of mana (or so they say. Magitechnology, basically they're powered by exspheres, which are comparable to powerful batteries).
That's all I have for now, but there's plenty of people on this forum who know a lot about the world (like Yume Hanabi and Meowzy) _________________ Also known as Sliv, Slivvie, Quilvius, Slivendiferious, and slivijizzisious

WARNING! SPOILERS AHEAD!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That seems like a pretty difficult task since Symphonia has two worlds. If you get a choice to pick one, I would definitely go with Tethe'alla since the world is much more structured. You have humans, elves, and half-elves. In Tethe'alla, you have a king that seems to reign over the whole world, but you have the individual village of the elves, which seems pretty autonomous. Both worlds in Symphonia have a single church, which is called the church of Martel, but it seems to be more established in Tethe'alla since they do have a pope. In Sylvarant, the disticntion between poor and rich is very narrow and not mentioned at all, whereas in Tethe'alla, there is a big gap between the rich and the poor. The people in Tethe'alla have a research academy and some type of school (since Zelos mentioned it a couple of times), but there seems to be individual schools in Sylvarant.
Slivius did a good job of answering the technology question. As for magic, only elves and half-elves can use magic. Past that, I don't believe there are any restrictions on its use. The weapons, for the most part are just swords and magic, although the Desians do have some machinery as weapons. There are no phones or anything of that nature. Finally, there are not any actual wars, but both worlds do have a human v.s. half-elf struggle, although it seems to be flipped in the respective worlds. In Tethe'alla, the humans persecute the half-elves and have a law that states that any half-elf convicted of a crime is put to death. In Sylvarant, the Desains (who are primarly consisting of half-elves) persecute the humans. I hope this helps some. _________________

In Asgard (in Sylvarant), there's some "really rich" people compared to the rest of the world (but by no means compared to Tethe'alla). It's worth checking out. There's three (or four) different inns to accomodate for every layer of society, and there's at least one lady who is so rich she has, I believe, three maidservants employed. _________________ Also known as Sliv, Slivvie, Quilvius, Slivendiferious, and slivijizzisious

The lady with the maids might be the mayor's wife. I don't think they ever mention the mayor in Symphonia but that exact house is the mayor's house in DotNW. The family could be rich, or it could just be a perk for being mayor. I did forget about the 3 inns, however, so there is something in Sylvarant about the differences between the wealthy and the poor. _________________

Zelos can use magic too because he has some Elven blood in him, it is said in the game, I don't remember where though, it's been years since I played the game.
Edit: A person who's played the game can write a better essay than a person who hasn't. |

It's said, then confirmed a lie.
Zelos uses magic because he ingested Aionis, an EXTREMELY rare material only found on Derris-Kharlan.
Same for Kratos. _________________

Didn't he say that the people in the Imperial Research Laboratory made him ingest the Aionis though? |

There was no Godness - Mithos made her up.
There only was a summon spirit, but that was not "Martel" either, that was Ratatosk. It was the mana tree that died. |

Martel was Mithos' sister, she died at the end of the Kharlan war (it's all explained pretty detailed in the OVAs) _________________ Also known as Sliv, Slivvie, Quilvius, Slivendiferious, and slivijizzisious

This, kinda.
The Giant Kharlan Tree died during Kharlan-Mithos' quest because the war between Sylvarant and Tethe'alla consumed too much Mana. Kharlan-Mithos made a pact with Ratatosk to revive the tree but Martel-Martel was killed by an unknown traitor, making Mithos loose his mind and break his pact with Ratatosk (he used the Great Seed to preserve Martel-Martel's soul instead of using it to make a new World Tree). Ratatosk got mad at humanity because of Kharlan-Mithos' (now Cruxis-Mithos) betrayal and went to guard the Ginnungagap with his Centurions because of reasons.
Cruxis-Mithos made up the whole World Regeneration thing and Goddess-Martel.
At the end of the game, the souls/spirits of everyone sacrificed for the World Regeneration made up Spirit-Martel who became the Summon Spirit of the new World Tree (Yggdrasill). Spirit-Martel is not Mithos' sister but Martel-Martel is a part of her.
Then everything was great until the fire nation attacked and Yggdrasill was killed by another f'ing war 'cause humans are ***holes and never learn. Spirit-Martel dyed her hair purple (she was going through a phase, don't blame her...) and stuff happened but that's another story.

...I wouldn't used the OVA as a reference. Especially for Martel-Martel's death. _________________

Thanks for the reply .
I'm still gonna use the fake story about godess Martel in my essay because it fits more in than the true story, because many people in ToS believes/believed in the fake story. But still, the information's great because i needed to know if Martel's story were fake or real in ToS-world/worlds. |

...I don't think it's a good idea for you to write an essay on a game you haven't played in 5 years, especially when you don't seem to remember or even understand the story.
The whole point of the game is about how the Church of Martel is a big lie and the worlds are in fact controlled by a 14 years old mass-murdering homicidal psychopath. _________________
