| I still don't see what the deal is behind Milla's name pronunciation. That's how it was pronounced in the Japanese version. So what if it's not how it's most commonly pronounced in English? Names can be pronounced multiple ways and words don't have to be pronounced as they're written. Otherwise Colonel would be spelled "Kernel." |

Mee-lah is very E. European pronunciation of the name. Given the Tales trend for particularly European (and Western-Anglo) names, I'm not surprised.
Mill-ah is how you say it if they were going for a more Americanized approach. But here it seems they're staying faithful to how the Japanese romanized it. Or whatever. _________________ Updated Feb, 22,'13~!! *

i've explained this **** how many times now
Milla = Mill-uh = English, AS IN THE **** COUNTRY/LANGUAGE, pronunciation
Mila = MEE-LAH = Eastern European pronunciation
her official **** name is Milla **** Maxwell
M-I-L-L-A
TWO "L"S
CLASS, CAN YOU TELL US WHICH PRONUNCIATION USES TWO "L"S
THAT'S RIGHT
ENGLISH
so it's natural to **** expect her name to be pronounced as it is spelled
also using the Japanese as a reference isn't proper since they lack the "ih" syllable
it's entirely possible that Milla is the intended pronunciation _________________

But that was their intention with her name.
Nothing you can do about that. _________________

Um, I thought Japan made her name like:
"ミラ".
Mi-ra *
"Mee-rah".
Mee-lah.
Some "Jeff"s spell their name with a J, sometimes a "G", sometimes with one F, and sometimes two Fs. *shrug*
(* I actually liked 'Mira' at first too) _________________ Updated Feb, 22,'13~!! *

Eh in the end it doesn't bother me how her name is pronounced, I'm just gonna say mill-ah anyway. _________________

When I was youngin' playing FF7 for the first time, I said Red 13's name as Red 8. I realized it, but I preferred just saying Red 8 (it was a syllable less! :D) _________________ Updated Feb, 22,'13~!! *

It is odd though, that they changed Elise to Elize to make the pronunciation perfectly clear (as with Tipo -> Teepo), but left Milla the same. _________________ Gaming in 2013:

And for the record I don't HATE absel's ENG voice. He just could've been a little better.
Same with Milla. The voice fits, but her acting could be better. Let's hope it is in the story.
Everyone else is good. Jude is growing on me, and the rest sound fine as well. I'd like to hear some more though. |

I think that's because Milla can be pronounced either way, and it doesn't matter what country you are in because Milla isn't English, or European, herself. She is from a made up world with made up people, so her name can be spelled/pronounced in ways that are different from America/England.
I really don't get why everyone freaks out about this, it's not a big deal. Now, if Xillia took place in a real country and she was supposed to be from a real place, then I could understand why people's panties are getting all bunched up over the spelling/pronunciation of her name. _________________

Camilla and Milla (Mill-ah) are transcribed in katakana as カミラ and ミラ. It could be both pronunciations. It would have been best for the localization to change the spelling to Mila to fit the pronunciation rather than unnecessarily changing Elise and Tipo. _________________ Icon via iconography. |

The only time I got annoyed is when Squeenix changed Star Ocean 1's hero's name from "Ratix" to "Roddick".... needless to say, the "dick" part sticks out (PUN'TENDED).
But yeah, I really never care about these sorts of things. _________________ Updated Feb, 22,'13~!! *

Is Galando a real first name? What about Rutee? Or Genis? Or a bunch of other names that Tales have used that aren't quite "real names"
Who cares if NB decided to stay closer to the SOURCE of the game, and use the JAPANESE pronunciation and spelling? Jesus christ.

Yeah, it is kinda weird that they felt the need to change Elize and Teepo (though I can kind of understand Tipo to Teepo, since some people might read that as "Tih-po" though really, does it matter when the game has a voice track?), but left Milla as Milla, especially since Elise can be pronounced as E-lease or E-leaze anyway, right? _________________
