Or you could just move your cursor to the top/bottom right of your screen, click Settings in the popup menu that comes out and click Control Panel.
I've liked Windows 8 quite a lot so far. Been using it for a couple months and have had very few complaints about it. |

move cursor to the top/bottom right of your screen, click Settings, click Power.
Yeah it's a couple clicks more than it used to be but seeing as I only shut down my computer once per day (usually) it's not that big of a deal to me. I've gotten used to it. |

i would recommend avoiding the charms bar because a) it is useless for desktop users b) it is inconvenient to use for desktop users c) microsoft doesn't intend for desktop users to use it (except maybe nooblords) and d) it is more work than just using keyboard shortcuts.
incidentally, power stuff requires the same number of operations as windows 7, except whatever the default is in windows 7 (often shut down or log off), which requires one more click in windows 8 because there is no default. _________________ Mint-III

hey
hey guys
guess what Dell did
They sent me a brand new laptop with a charger that doesn't ****ing work. I got a little worried when the battery drained down to around 70% and I never got a message saying it was charging while it was plugged in. I tried different outlets. I even tried turning it on with the battery removed (which is apparently the first thing you should try if you want a dead giveaway your adapter is ****ed) and got nothing.
