So I was knocking about on NaNoWriMo when I found this: http://iwl.me/

Basically, it compares your writing to that of famous authors and tells you who you write like. The writing doesn't have to be a story- it can be a journal entry or even a handful of comments. I'm not certain how reliable it is, but I thought some might find it amusing.

Anyway, my results:

My typical short stories: Anne Rice
Most recent story, which is heavy on alliteration and suchlike: Oscar Wilde
An AP Essay: Kurt Vonnegut
My comments, journal entries, and RP entries: Dan Brown (this seems to be my most common result)
This post: H. P. Lovecraft (wtf)

So yeah. Post your results here.

I took this test once and was told I wrote like James Joyce. Having only read the tiniest bit of Joyce I'm not quite sure what to make of this result.

Ekphrastic: David Foster Wallace (got him again with an essay I wrote for a cinema class)
More analytical: H. P. Lovecraft
Closer to history than anything else: Dan Brown (I hated this paper, too)
Visual culture analysis of Telephone: J. K. Rowling

Charlotte's Cuisine Critique and Euphie Conquers the World: Vladimir Nabokov
Terrible Things Happen to Mai: Edgar Allan Poe
Terrible Things Happen to Mai BAD END Route, Ribbons Almark is a Smarmy Bastard, Final Thoughts and Winds of Doom: Dan Brown
Terrible Things Happen to Mai: Requiem: Jonathan Swift
Shizuru vs. Akane: Chuck Palahniuk
Canned Pineapple: William Gibson
Sacrifice, Revenge, and What a Jerk: Bram Stoker
Mint Dies: H.P. Lovecraft
Takin' on the Mamihod: Cory Doctorow

Doubts Chapter 1: "Annie" Rice
Chapter 2: Dan Brown
Chapter 3: David Foster Wallace

This thing is full of so much crap.

Well, maybe aside from the Poe and Lovecraft. Stoker might not be far off, too, but I'm not sure if this thing's justification is anything beyond "HURR DURR YOU SAY 'DRACULURR' A LOT, SO YOU'RE JUST LIKE BRAM STOKER."

I've plugged in a few more things, and Wallace comes up quite often. I can deal with that.

Episode review of Glee: David Foster Wallace
Adaptation of Mark Twain's 'Advice to Youth': H.P. Lovecraft
'The Importance of Being Earnest' literary analysis: H.P. Lovecraft
Random: Dan Brown
Satire on why Twilight is THE BEST BOOK EVER: Stephanie Meyer (lol)

So I suppose I write the most like H.P. Lovecraft. That's pretty cool.
