I was wondering if anyone had a set of restrictions for going through the game on mania mode. For example, would going through the game on mania mode with double experience cheapen the accomplishment? Are there other restrictions that people have done while going through mania mode? _________________

The kind of challenge you want is up to you; I can confirm, however, that being overleveled will negate the Mania mode except in the case of a couple of bosses (Abyssion comes to mind) who are still very tough on Mania mode (at least without using an All-Divide, which I never do) until you get extremely overleveled. So yes, if you have double experience, pretty soon you'll have to put it on Mania just to have normal fights instead of breezing through everything with your eyes closed. Granted, I have never done a Mania mode play myself, and I've never played through an entire game with double experience active; however, there have been times when I have been overleveled just from fighting too many battles that I needed to use Mania mode for regular fights on the fields and in dungeons just to bring the difficulty back up to what I consider to be "normal" for those areas. (And I'm not even terribly good at the game.)
If you're looking for a challenge, you could perhaps try 1/2 EXP instead, and avoid fighting battles as much as possible so as to not negate the half EXP and end up overleveled anyway. (If you hear a lot of "This is gonna be a piece of cake!" you're overleveled.) Take Min HP too if you want to really overkill it. And then try playing in Mania mode. Now that would probably kill you.

Are there really varying degrees of nerdiness? _________________
