Tales of the town is... Well, in short, I really don't know what it is. It's the newest addition to the Tales of Community website and features content from Tales of Vesperia, Tales of Graces and Tales of The World: Radiant Mythology 3. It seems you can create your own characters, but further than that, I can't say myself. I'll just let the pictures do the talking from here on out.

Yay, chibi Kanonno and Asbel~~~ Aren't they cute?

Point 1: Avatar Items. I can't read it beyond that.

Point 2 is obviously about the locations available.

Point 3. Original [Game]? I'm not sure what the second word is supposed to me, due to my katakana skills being terrible.

Seems like a signup/coming soon image, I've no idea... ^__^;;

So, anyone willing to give translating that little lot a go for those of us who are Japanese illiterate? :3

I think it says: "Point 1: Transform your characters with avatar items!"

Point 3 is "You can play an original game!"

And the last one is saying that you get a RM3 descender avatar item as a present upon opening, I think. That one has too many kanji for me to make out. :(

Ack time for me to go to school, will try to decipher more later.

Anyway, the original game thing looks like some kind of card game, but I dunno what. Hard to tell just from a couple of images.

As it looks now, it seems to be a webpage-based client, which essentially makes it an MMO that can be played within an internet browser, similar to Runescape. Of course, without the defining elements of a "massively multiplayer" persistent world.

The graphic style is nice enough, but the areas seem to be at a fixed isometric viewpoint. The chibification of the characters reminds me of Tokimeki Memorial Online, so I'm okay with it.

Now, I don't really see what's the point of this. If it is just a social game, I don't think it will last very long, after seeing what happened to TokiMemo Online and what's soon to happen to ai-sp@ce. I see nothing that relates to if this will be a paid service or not, but if it is pay-to-play, then it will fail pretty quickly. Though it could survive for a bit on a cash shop system (lol DLC costume spam theory). But Namco experimented with a fully-developed MMO before and it shut down within the year, and what makes them think less effort will turn out more profit-- oh right, it's what Namco does, and all of the sheep in the Tales fandom prove them right.

But hey, whoever it was that wanted a new Tales MMO, I'd say this is it. An actual MMO is a veritable impossibility now, since they will want to build and keep an active community on this thing. An actual MMO will split the userbase and make both games financially unsound ventures.

Ooh, I see a decent quality cut-in of Estelle in that one picture. Perhaps we can FINALLY get good quality rips of the RM3 cut-ins for returning characters through TotT. Razz
