|
|
Just a year ago, the only Tales game I played was Phantasia. Until now I have play these games in this order:
Eternia>Symphonia>RM2>Graces>Rebirth>Legendia
Once I finished up Legendia, the only two games at my disposal right now are Abyss and Symphonia 2.
I'm thinking of going for Symphonia 2 first so I can play the much superior Tales game, Abyss. Would that be a good order for me? _________________ "Don't let it end like this...Tell them I said something." Pancho Villa

| Shouldn't take you long to beat ToS:KoR. |

Yes.
Don't want to play the shitfest after Abyss.
It'll just make the game worse and feel shorter, considering Abyss as far longer. |

Or you could take Britta's advice to the next logical step and just not play Ratatosk at all. _________________ Invincibility frames are the very definition of a "fickle mistress".
You can get in a lot of trouble for using them, but it feels so good when you cheat with them.

That's if you don't want to cringe at Ratatosk's representation of the older characters. |

Okay, I'm going to try to clear something up right now... what was it about KoR/DotNW that turned people off so much?
Is all the hate from how they treated the Symphonia(or rather Phantasia) world, or does the game just outright suck?
I'd really like to know because I've been holding off on getting that game for while. _________________ peace |

The game has a lot of flaws and limits: Hardly customizable AI, horrible Monster AI, you canīt directly control monsters or put shortcuts to them (even though you got friggin 12) and most of the time they are overlevelled compared to Emil or Marta and have higher status. Talking about party limits, most of the time you only have Regal and Sheena on your party apart from Emil and Marta, and even then you canīt level any ToS party members, equip them or teach them new stuff. Their arte set is pretty bad too.
Also the story is pretty much "hey letīs revisit every summon spirit spot!" with a few original dungeons thrown here and there. _________________ Tales of Phantasia Narikiri Dungeon X Script Site!

| I thought it was ok for a spin-off. I think alot of it is because so many people hyped up "ToS2" and thought that it would be just as good or greater than the first game. By the time the english version came out I was pretty meh about it since I had already played the Japanese. |

Put simply, it's a fair bit of both. From what I understand, the game isn't dreadful on it's own merit but pretty much everything else in the series beats it.
Now I'm off to got play ToD PS1... _________________ The ember is dust before the wind... |

IMO I am one of the few that like ToS:DoTNW/KoR but its much shorter than Abyss and has less content. So I vote you complete that first. Abyss needs more time to be enjoyed. =) _________________
