Alright, the old "Now Reading" thread is far too dead for even my powers of thread necromancy to bring back, so time for a new one.
Pretty straight forward: What are you reading/are you planning on reading/ did you just finish reading?
I just finished up John Dies at the End by David Wong and On Writing by Stephen King, working on Dolores Claborne by Stephen King. I would definitely recommend On Writing for anyone even moderately interested in writing and John Dies at the End for anybody with even the slightest hint of a sense of humor/love of horror.
Please note: I'm taking a class on Stephen King at the moment, so expect to see a quite bit of him in most of my posts.

Ah, I remember reading John Dies at the End online! Really good story, and damn funny. I should get around to picking up a print copy.
Anyway, I haven't actually dedicated myself to reading anything in a while, but I do have a pile of books that I plan to read soon: Heretics of Dune by Frank Herbert (and Chapterhouse: Dune afterwards, but I down have a copy yet), Restaurant at the End of the Universe by Douglas Adams, The Invasion of Canada by Pierre Berton, and John English's two volume biography of Pierre Trudeau.
Don't know where I'll start, but probably with Heretics and The Invasion of Canada. _________________

I'm in the middle of reading Forest Mage by Robin Hobb. It's the second in her Soldier's Son trilogy and I have to say I'm liking it far more than I thought I would.
I'm actually surprised by how simple the title is because it does the story no justice. If I were browsing a list of books I would just think this was another mediocre fantasy. I love the way she develops the world and makes it so that magic is more of a spiritual presence, rather than magic you physically see. |

| Currently I'm reading The 101 Most Influential People Who Never Lived. It's an interesting and amusing little book about the role fictional characters play in shaping history. (Like Uncle Tom from Uncle Tom's Cabin) |

Cell by Stephen King. I need to find time to read it again...it was an interesting take on a...well, sort of zombiepocalypse.
I have a friend who wants to lend me The Alchemist. Can't recall the author, but if any of you recognize it or something, care to tell me if it's worth a read? _________________

Nemesis by Agatha Christie. Okay, but I don't really like it as much as her older stuff. _________________

Who's that by? Sounds interesting...
I just finished Dracula by Bram Stoker for my religion class, and it was one of the rare books I really didn't mind writing an essay for.
Planning on reading: Spectacular Sins, by John Piper and C.S. Lewis' Collected Works. _________________

Just finished The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay by Michael Chabon. It was good but about a quarter of the way from the end lost some serious momentum and dragged pretty much up to the last 5 or 6 chapters. And it won a pulitzer prize so clearly i was curious.
My reading right now and for the next 4 weeks pretty much consists of psychology texts including 'Freedom, responsibility and God', 'Of Liberty and Necessity', and 'Will and World' among others. I'm not too bummed since the Free Will vs. Determinism debate is really very interesting. I just don't really like academic texts
Oh and I need to expand this list so if anyone has ever studied the free will vs determinism debate and knows of any good reading about it, suggestions would be great _________________

Like The Amazing Adventure of the Escapist vol 1 and The Escapists. Still looking to read more of that series.
Anyway, as for my current reading, I'm on again off again trying to finish reading off my collection of Bret Easton Ellis. Right now I'm halfway through Rules of Attraction. I'm liking it, but when you don't read it after a long while, you kinda have to wonder "ok, who's who, who's f***ing who, and what happened again?". Hoping to finish it within then next month so i can move on The Informers and so on.
But for the most part I've been reading alot of comics, including whatever latest Spider-Man paperbacks come out, the Batman Loeb/Sale graphic novels other than Long Halloween, The Preacher, and some other stuff here or there. _________________

Given how much reading I've been doing for uni since... well, starting my course, I've read next to nothing. I miss having time
I've been reading a lot of comics, though, which I suppose will do as a compromise for now. Just finished Planetary, which was pretty great but I don't think ever quite realised its potential. Currently working my way through The Authority, but I've finished volume 1 and it apparently goes downhill after that. Garth Ennis (Preacher guy)'s Kev spinoffs are utterly brilliant.
I'm highbrow.
If it balances out I'm planning to read The Count of Monte Cristo over summer |

Oh **** I found a really old amazing copy of The Count of Monte Christo from like early 1900s in a bookshop near me but didn't really pay much attention to it. It's probably gone now =( _________________
