your definition makes me wonder if the final fantasy games are sequels to each other
also why do people apparently not want there to be a sequel to demon's souls? would that be too mainstream or something |

I guess because people think that if it went mainstreamed, the game would be ruined. _________________

The graphics got a pretty nice upgrade it looks like. Can't wait to see if co-op is a little easier to do, too..and I'm looking forward to different animations for weapons, I got tired of swinging around a Northern Regalia and feeling like I was using the Bastard Sword from the beginning of the game.. :c
Also, the ability to jump would be nice plzthx. _________________

The trailer showcased a lot of that trademark atmosphere. God, was it good. But you know, I'm really surprised this is from From Software. I'm only familiar with their Armored Core and that one Lost Kingdoms games, but I didn't know that they were any competent. I wonder what happened? |

From Software has always had great concepts but terrible execution. In some games it came together like with Lost Kingdoms and Chromehounds, but this generation has been a constant stream of garbage until Demon's Souls.
They had some unique PS2 games like Eternal Ring (think Oblivion but with better dungeons and worse controls) and Echo Night: Beyond (a survival game like the Zettai Zetsumei Toshi series but in a space station.) The Evergrace games look decent too.
There's also Tenchu Z on the 360 where they basically figured, hey let's have a co-op ninja game! Great idea, would've worked great with the mission structure if only the mechanics didn't suck.
Also, technically From Software's been making games like Demon's Souls for a while now: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:King%27s_Field_series _________________

Just saw the trailer over at http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/02/first-dark-souls-trailer-and-screens-are-appropriately-dark/ today (I know it's already been posted but gametrailer is often a pain with its ads all the god damned time).
So yeah, it looks to me like it's pretty much Demon's Souls 2, which is exactly what I wanted out of this game. _________________

I think Dark Souls was supposed to be Demon's Souls 2 but because of SCEJ publishing it in Japan, they probably had the copyright to the name and wouldn't let From Software use it if they were making a 360 version.
It's kinda like how Platinum Games' publishing deal with Sega means that Sega actually holds the rights to Madworld, Bayonetta, Vanquish, etc.
Not sure about tri-Ace and Resonance of Fate. Those just may have been the terms of PG's partnership with Sega. _________________

That makes sense.
I wonder if they will do something where you can use your Demon's Souls game save for some coolio content. _________________

| Wikipedia wrote: | | Some gamers have speculated that the game is, in fact, a spiritual sequel to Demon's Souls and that the name "Project Dark" was used, because the game couldn't be called "Demon's Souls 2", considering the original's rights are held by Sony, and Dark Souls is planned to be a multiplatform game. |
Yep, I'm pretty sure that's it. _________________
