Wait, are you telling me this game actually forces you to use the default Kid Icarus control scheme for the entire game?

Was the default Kid Icarus control scheme not a big enough trainwreck / PR disaster for them to realize designing games with the default Kid Icarus control scheme was a bad idea?

the kid icarus control scheme only sucks for the ground segments

liberation maiden pretty much only plays like the flight segments of kiu

The controls for Kid Icarus: Uprising really suck on the ground IMO.

The only problem I'd see with Liberation Maiden's controls is if you have to strafe *a lot* just because the L button gets awkward to press after a while.

KIU just needed a lock-on button and some better camera if you ask me

It's an okay shooter hindered by a totally crippled control scheme. Anyone who says this is actually good is just distracted by Shoko's jiggling ass.

Yeah I feel that they could've put the D-pad to better use with stuff like a lock-on feature.

Yeah controlling the reticle by itself was very annoying. It should have just had lock-on or maybe have aerial combat designed in a Starfox-esque fashion where your movement and aiming was connected.

Eh, I've bought games for much shallower reasons.

oh, I'm not saying I don't appreciate that sort of thing when the character design allows it. After all, I'm still probably the only person on Talesforum who owns a copy of Bullet Witch.

I'm just saying you can have your mech girl cheesecake fanservice and still make a balanced shoot em up with an intuitive control gimmick out of it (i.e. Triggerheart Exelica)

Anyone will buy a crappy game for it's fanservice, even if it's a cheap indie game and Japan knows fanservice.

Sex sells.

But there's such a thing as trying too hard.

Like X-Blades. Fanservice for the sake of fanservice and the Deviantart Trying To Be Anime art direction soooo didn't make up for that game being a poorly implemented God of War ripoff.

I agree with you on the X-Blades part, but it still sold. Why?

There was a sequel.
