Final Fantasy: Secret of El Ephermia
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yup, the Final Fantasy series had it coming. =P
Anyway, I hope you like this RP as it stands out a bit from the crowd. ^_^
Summary: Four Crystals protected the world of Falune from danger for eons, and an ancient race called the Nayuri was an advanced civilization with technology beyond man's reach.
One day though, the ancient Civilization known as the Nayuri vanished, how and why they disappeared, none remain who know, only the ruins of their once great civilization remains.
A thousand years later, mankind had reached the age of steam and a powerful empire is using their power and influence in order to find the four crystals of Falune which last said to be under the protection of the Nayuri to lead them to the ancient land of El Ephermia, 'The Kingdom of Light'.
Lucille, an cheerful and bright inventor with the dream of finding her parents, finds herself caught up in the big race for El Ephermia when she meets a young Nayurian called Vivi when a circus troupe arrives at Herba Fields.
Little did she know that this journey would take her and many others on an journey of discovery and eventually to save Falune when a dark secret from the ancient past threatens to consume all of Falune.
This is the tale of Final Fantasy: Secret Of El Ephermia
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Rules: (Based on other people's rules. So here they are. Please follow them. ^^)

1. No God-moding. An example is an instant kill move that wipes out the entire field. I won't allow this even you ask so don't even think about it. >.>

2. You can play either good, evil, or neutral characters. Your allegiance is up to you. Please be sure of your choice before submitting it, it will not be changed after you made you choice.

3. Don't drastically change the plot. It will make other people confused and end up with arguements.

4. You control can control yours and the characters of others members, However, You CANNOT control their fates. Such as making them unconscious/maimed/dead or injuried. Only the member who owns that character can do those things. Anyone else cannot.

5. No 20 people parties please. Please make short parties so other people will not have problems trying to remember numberous members' Roleplaying characters.

6. When posting about attacking or taking action on or towards another person, you can control their reactions a bit. But you can't control their fates or thier decisons though. Only the owner of the character can do that.

7. You can have events leading up to drastic plot changes. Just not too soon or too confusing.

8. You MUST describe your surroundings and actions fully.

9. Healing only does so much..... it doesn't heal you completely. And you cannot bring people back from the dead since it's not really possible. Example: Aeris in FF7.

10. For magics, be descriptive. Insert magic words if you feel the need to. People don't scream 'fire 1' and it works. It sounds a little too weird. ^^U

11. Magic can cure smaller wounds, but if your arm is hacked off, you can't really make a new one. ^^U

12. No racism nor discrimination to ANY member of the fourms taking part in the RP.

13. No verbal bashing.

14. No cussing unless it's in your character's personality. But no hardcore swearing. We do have younger members.

15. Remember, these enemies aren't cake or easy. No one, no matter HOW strong, can tear through hundreds of people/demons without rest, help, or a ton of support from magics or etc.

16. Absolutely NO one hit kills that cover a large group. That isn't fun, leave room for others to play.

17. No use of word abbreviations like 'u' or 'ur' because I hate it. Also, type full sentences. Occasional misspellings are okay, because I do that too, but don't make it a habit. USE SPELL CHECK!

18. Please do not use Leet. That is forbidden since some people will not understand and be able to carry on with the story.

Races

Humans

Humans are the majority race in the world of Falune. They are intellectual beings that can invent new things at an incredible rate. They also can be courageous and noble in times of need and caring to others.

However, there are also humans who are evil, greedy, arrogant and full of malice due to the fickle heart of humans.

Some humans are now trying to revive once great power and technology of the Nayuri with the salvaged artefacts that were found worldwide all over in the ruined cities, the Aeon Empire seeks to obtain El Ephermia, a mythical kingdom that the Nayuri once lived in and is said to hold many hidden secrets of the past within.

Nayuri *Limited Spots Only*

Nayuri are an ancient 'thought be extinct' race that was said to have died out along with their civilization. They were an very advanced race with fairie-like wings, they possessed greater technology than the people of today, they were beautiful and wise, but one day, a great disaster happened, it tore the world asunder and the once mighty race of Nayurians vanished from the world.

Skilled in magic, they also could summon Eidolons, creatures born from the Crystals' light. The Nayurians were chosen by the Crystals long ago to be their guardians and in return they would receive their blessings and protect El Ephermia, their kingdom from threat.

As a symbol of this promise, they bestowed the Spirit Medallion to the Royal Family of that race and only those of Nayurian blood with the Spirit Medallion in hand could understand the knowledge and wisdom of the crystals.

With the Nayuri's disappearance, the mystery of El Ephermia would remain elusive...Unless, some had survived...

Rabai

The Rabai race are humanoids who almost seem human, but have rabbit ears and nose instead of the human kind. As people might have guessed from the Rabai's ears, they are very fast and agile creatures, some say they are almost uncatchable to the eyes.

They are very knowledgeable as well, curious by nature, they normally try to uncover secrets that have not yet been uncovered by becoming scholars. Most Rabai though are merchants, who are very good at this line of work.

Since the Rabai race lives within the Sunder Desert, which is a large desert, much bigger than any other, they know how to survive in the desert and how to use it to their best advantage. Although Rabai are mostly very friendly, they are very cautious around people, especially those of the Aeon Empire.

As Desert people, they learned how to cultivate and live in the desert naturally as they had adapted to their surroundings after a great disaster struck the world, causing chaos in its wake, in which their original homeland was destroyed a thousand years ago, the same time as when the Nayurians vanished.

Lumani

The Lumani are a summoner clan who have a very small amount of Nayurian blood remaining, not strong enough to communicate with the crystals and spirits any longer but have enough to summon Eidolons like their ancestors could.

As such, they pass on the wisdom of their ancestors to the next generation in hopes that their powers could be used for good like the Nayurians once did. Lumani are an isolated race and do not make contact with the outside world, as such they remained hidden and unseen by the rest of the world.

Feather-Folk

The Feather-Folk are a bird-like clan that are mostly human most of the time. They can transform into giant birds or just sprout wings. Since they are a bird-clan, they love high places like the Mist Mountains which are the largest mountains in Falune, so they made the mountains their home and their major city which is based on the highest of the mountains.

Feather-Folk hate fighting and try to avoid the war at all costs, they are mostly skilled in white magic and defence magic, making them the best white magic users.

The royal family of the Feather-Folk are said to have a special treasure that was given to them by the Nayurians long ago, it is considered their kingdom's treasure and would guard it with their lives.

Nekoians

Nekoians are a passionate nature-loving tribe. They are actually the most loyal of allies to the Elven clan, since both races care deeply for their world and its natural beauty.

Since they are a cat-tribe, as their name implies, they can transform into deadly were tigers that can easily kill their enemies in a heartbeat, making them also feared and respected. Most of the time, the Nekoi clan are in their human forms, with their cat ears and tail to define their race traits.

They love living in the woods and forests, since their passion for nature drives them to live far away from society like Elves. They become easily angered when people harm their land or its living inhabitants, so even though Nekoians are very peaceful, they will easily get into a fight with anyone who harms even a grain of soil of their lands.

Elves

The Elven race is known to be respected and feared by many for their mystic powers that are said to even surpass even the other races that also used magic. Elves are known for their powerful magic, long life-spans, and their knowledge of many ancient mysteries that many people still do not yet understand.

Due to their long lifespan, rumours say that they hold the secret of eternal life and are sworn to protect the secrets of the world, including those that involve the Nayurians and El Ephermia. Since Elves are more in tuned with nature, they do not often leave their lands.

Elves are very cautious of other races and their lands. Since Elves are one of the longest living races in existence, they had seen many things that others may have forgotten. Due to this, Elves are very leery of trusting people, making access to their realm almost impossible.

To those who have the Elves' trust, they are treated with respect, just like others had respected the elves, people who have the trust of the Elves should be careful not to lose it. Once you have that trust but then betrayed the Elves, they won't trust the same people again. Another rumour within the Elven clan, tells that the Elves have a well-kept secret that only those of royal blood can know but never tell.

Dwarves

A race that prefers to live underground and within mountains (Especially volcanoes). They are rather small, but looks are very deceiving. They are skilled with almost any weapon and can control the element of earth with the greatest of ease. A rare few choose to abandon their underground ways in search of things in the world.

Some decide to be merchants and most decide to become blacksmiths. They the most skilled craftsmen in all of Falune, they can create the best swords and weaponry thanks to their materials which are found in their own lands.

Dwarves are a very proud and passionate race, although they can be vulgar and rude at times. But they are fiercely loyal to their allies and even to Elves, who they have some issues with.

Although Elves and Dwarves have had their ups and downs and often on unstable terms, when they have a common goal, they become the best of allies. Ironic really isn't it?

Drakonites

Drakonites are an ancient dragon race and have an equally long life-span as the Elves do. They are very noble and proud race, although Drakonites are arrogant and do not trust humans, the elder Drakonites more senior than their younger brood are willing to give humans a try once in a while.

Their terrifying power can crumble towns and cities, but they had learned to not be reckless with their incredible power.

Legends say that Drakonites once lived among the Nayuri and were the only race to be allowed to mount their backs, unless humans or any other race can gain a Drakonite's respect, for honour and dignity are very important to Drakonites.

They respect Bahamut, their king and one of the strongest Eidolons alive.

Important Terms

Spirit Medallion

The Spirit Medallion is the symbol of the promise that was made between the Nayurians and the spirits that dwelled inside the Four Crystals that protected Falune.

It originally belonged to the royal family but once the Nayurians vanished, the Spirit Medallion was passed on to the next remaining member until it reached in the hands of Vivi Collabel.

By using the medallion, Vivi can hear the voices of the spirits and voices of the Four Crystals. It becomes an interest to the Aeon Empire as the Spirit Medallion was the key to finding El Ephermia, but they'll need the Nayurian as well if they were to use it correctly.

Crystal Spirits

The Four Crystals have spirits of their own that had been developed over time as they gathered the memories and experiences of numerous souls to continue the cycle of life that had been in motion since their very existence came into being.

By using the Spirit Medallion, they can channel their voice into the Nayurian who wields it.

Eidolons

Eidolons are powerful creatures born from the light of the Crystals; they are used to aid their summoners in times of need. They originally only were summoned by Nayurians, but once the Nayurians disappeared from the face of the earth, they found their use in the Lumani, a summoner clan who possess a small drop of Nayuri blood that remains in their lineage.

They obey their summoners without question although the Crystals can intervene and prevent their orders should a summoner use the Eidolons for the wrong reasons and go against the will of the Four Crystals.

Sky Pirates

Sky Pirates are those who rule the skies and raid merchant or military ships on a normal basis. They can also raid ocean ships if they feel daring enough. One of the most feared groups of Sky Pirates are the 'Golden Brigade' and their elusive airship, the 'Atlantis'.

In Falune, mankind has reached the age of Steam, where they can use trains, airships and other steamed-power machinery to make life easier and make work more effective.

They also use artefacts and devices of Nayuri-make that they manage to salvage and repair from the remains of the 'Golden Age'.

The Golden Age

That is what most people call the age of when the Nayuri race was prosperous and vast with great advance technology at their disposal.

This age came to an end though, when a 'Great Disaster' struck the world, destroying the Nayuri Civilization.

All that remains of that time now are the ruins of their once proud cities.

The Great Disaster

It was this event that ended the Golden Age and nearly brought the world to its end. Even now, no one knows what caused the disaster and why it happened...Could the answer lie in El Ephermia?

Aeon Empire's Imperial Army

At current, the Imperial Army are the most feared and dangerous military in the world of Falune today. Although they are constantly attacked by Resistance members and Sky Pirates, they plan to dominate the world and bring it all under one rule. They seek El Ephermia for this purpose alone.

A underground Organization who desires to see an end to the Imperial Army of Aeon Empire and gain their freedom.

The men and woman of this organization join this group in order to keep their freedom as they do not wish to be ruled by the Aeon Empire.

For this end, they also search for El Ephermia to put an end to the Imperial Army once and for all.

Gil

This is the currency in the world of Falune. =3

Ice Salt

This is a special type of ice that can be only found in the Ice Salt Plains. It is known to have the power to heal internal and exterior wounds at an incredible pace, of course to an extent, and also can heal fevers.

It has other purposes besides healing, like being used as a delicacy, a tool to freeze lava and make armour and weapons from them.
==========================================

The World of Falune

Falune is a world of technology and magic. Falune is a vibrant world of life and mana. Although mankind had reached the age of steam, they are continuing to extend their reach to the technology that the Nayuri once held.

With the half of the world covered in ruins of the once great civilization, it still holds some natural beauty in some spots of the world. A lot of people use steam-powered airships, trains and etc nowadays thanks to the new age.

There are four crystals around the world that protect the world of Falune from evil and acts as markers to where El Ephermia rests, however, they still need the spirit medallion to communicate with the spirits inside the crystals, and they also need a Nayurian in order to use the Spirit Medallion.

Aeon Empire

It is a feared empire with a powerful Imperial Army. Their main goal is to bring all of Falune under one rule, the caste system in Aeon Empire is very strict, especially in the main capital 'Zanark City'. The upper plate is for the wealthy and nobility and the middle plate is for the middle class citizens and the bottom layer of the city is for the poorest and poverty-ridden.

Lindria Kingdom

Lindria is more well-known for being the 'City of Water', but is the rival to Aeon Empire and home to the Regen Resistance HQ. Lindria doesn't use machines as much as the Aeon Empire does and relies more on nature and magic.

The forest itself is divided into two different plant life and animals. West Elidoor is more traditional and woodland like with wooden paths across the mostly water-logged area. While East Elidoor forest is more tropical and exotic.

Windcrest Kingdom

This is home to the Feather-Folk and their city, Starfall Canyon. Their city is protected by a wall on all sides of the canyon, making them protected from frontal danger. Being an tribal race, they live a druidic lifestyle, similar to the Lumani, they live isolated from the rest of the world, so their way of life remained the same as it had been for generations.

They celebrate a festival known as 'Oracle Day' which when they celebrate once every a hundred years about the Four Crystals Of Falune and when they would receive a vision of the future by using four orbs in a ritual that the Feather-Folk called the 'Dance of Four Lights'.

They are not known for being visited by strangers outside their lands, so it is unpredictable how they will react to newcomers. They are led by a druid chieftain, the eldest and wisest of the Feather-Folk.

Sunder Desert

Rabai use native Red Chocobos to help them travel across the hostile desert, it would be impossible to travel the desert by foot. Since the capital of the Rabai, Faine, is smack dab in the very middle of Sunder Desert with villages far and between across the desert.

They do use technology to help them in surviving, but not to an excessive amount like the Aeon Empire. It solely relies on the Aeon Empire for its food and supplies. It also where a special type of ice is harvested called 'Ice Salt' which acts as their main trade.

They use technology to help them survive in the bitter coldness, over time, they were able to make Winberg City along with its famous academy, a new nation, but still works with the Empire in order to survive, however, most of the nation's inhabitants do not agree with Aeon's extreme methods and ideals.

Personal Details/History: Thanatos is an enigma among the Generals, not much is known about him other than he is a masterful swordsman and wielder of powerful magic, which makes most people beleive that is Half-Elf, even though it hasn't actually been confirmed by him or anyone else.

He is cruel and merciless to his enemies and anyone who he considers an 'insect'. He rised among the ranks to become one of the four generals, the elite of Imperial Army of Aeon.

There are times when he is almost considered 'human' as he does show very rare occasions of compassion, but that is only given to a rare few. For some reason, he desires to find El Ephermia more than anyone, probably even more than the Emperor, his reasons for this however are also an enigma.

Just what does he seek in El Ephermia? Could this explain something his two-sided personality that seems to take place at strange occasions?

Here's one of my characters done. Guys' and Evan's will be up later, but their bios are going to be joint into one, since they're always together. Plus, I need to finish drawing their character designs (which, Shion's appearance is also drawn/colored by me).

~~~~~
Shion Highet
Gender: Male
Age: 22
Race: Half-Nekoi and Half-Feather-Folk
Birthplace: Nekoi capital: Nampa—but moved to Starfall Canyon afterward.
Occupation: None
Alliance: Good
Eye color: Emerald
Hair color: Teal
Appearance: Despite living in the Windcrest Kingdom, Shion looks almost completely Nekoian. He has an average build with a muscular torso, but with very slightly thinner arms, and stands at 6’0” tall. His skin tone is a pale pink and often carries a neutral to a passive expression on his face. His eyes are a dark emerald hue which often lack luster or brightness in them. He has short, teal colored hair that is cut about chin length and his bangs hangs just over his eyebrows, except for the few long strands that hang between his eyes. His teal Nekoi ears poke out from his hair at the side of his head, like where a normal human’s are located, and a long flowing-like teal colored tail hung at the base of his spine. Hidden at his back, there are small dark grayish wings—shaped like that of a hawk’s. However, they are too small for any actual flight, so Shion has to rely on his strength to climb the mountains where he lives and it is unknown whether he is able or not to transform into the weretiger form that of his Nekio heritage, or into the giant bird of the Feather-Folk.
At his father’s home, he normally wears a slightly formal attire of a tight buttoned shirt and pants, but when he’s out climbing the mountain cliffs, he wears nothing but a loose shirt and a long forest-green hooded coat, along with loose black and gray pants. He also dresses this way when he’s with his friends and often remains shirtless with just his hooded coat over his body.
Weaponry: None. However, he does carry with him a pair of sturdy crystal orbs (one colored white and the other a pale gold) which he uses as a medium to cast mainly white magic and some limited black magic. Also infused with magic, he is able to have them float around him when he’s preparing his spells and can occasionally use them as projectiles to attack physically from a distance.
Personal Details/History: Shion is often found reclusive among the people of the Feather-Folk, mostly due to his father seeing him as a disappointment than a son. With this, he tends to lack emotion and keeps them hidden from others (with the exception of his two friends, Guys and Evan). Often feeling like he lacks a will of his own, he allows others (especially his family) to boss him around and tends to give up easily if he tries to stand up for himself.
Being born a half breed, Shion had a rather complicated and harsh past. His father was a high ranking Feather-Folk of the hawk clan, while his mother was a Nekoi prostitute. His parents met when his father had visited the Nekoi capital and started fooling around with the women there. However, when his father left to return to the Starfall Canyon, Shion’s mother became pregnant with him and it was soon discovered that the father was the Feather-Folk man, since Shion had small wings and grayish down on his back. There were no other Folk around that his mother had slept with after that encounter, so she knew immediately who the father was.
Throughout most of Shion’s earlier childhood years, he helped support his mother, as well as himself. He did anything he could to put food on the table and even went through great lengths to do so, following the orders of others. When his mother fell ill to an unknown disease when he was at the age of ten, he was finally told about the other half of his heritage—clearing up the mysteries he had about the growing feathers and wings. Unable to find a cure to his mother’s illness, she died a few months after she had revealed the news to Shion.
After that, Shion set off to find his father, and journeyed with a band of adventurers, even at a very young age. Along the way, he met a few other children around his age and he was to stick with them at all times. Though, he was mostly isolating himself from them, feeling awkward because he found most of them annoying, and they mostly avoided him because of his personality. However, two boys—a Human and a Rabai—finally approached him and began talking to him, getting to know him like if he was part of their group. Feeling the acceptance from the pair, he slowly began to open up to them along their travels.
When they eventually reached the Windcrest Kingdom and the Feather-Folk capital, Shion bid farewell to his newly-found friends and headed off to where his father resides. Finding out that his father was a high-ranking member of the Folk, Shion was hesitant to approach him in fear that he wouldn’t be accepted. Though, when he actually did manage to encounter him and telling him about his Nekoi mother, his fears became true when his father brushed him away. Being stubborn, he soon revealed the gray wings and feathers at his back—a Nekoi with wings—and that immediately caught his father’s attention. Not wanting to deal with the issues if the other higher ranking Folk or chieftains finding out, his father quickly and reluctantly accepted him into his home to hide him.
For the next several years, Shion remained at the Feather-Folk capital and was treated less like a son and more like a servant, following the orders that his father was giving him. Saddened and depressed by that fact, he was about to give up hope of being loved, until he found two ‘visitors’ in his room one night. However, these ‘visitors’ were no strangers to him, revealing to be the two boys that he had been traveling with to the Windcrest Kingdom—Guys, the human, and Evan, the Rabai.
He learned that his two friends had been staying at a village at the far edge of the Windcrest Kingdom and then moved to the capital when things became boring there. Whenever Shion was able to go outside, dressed in commoner’s clothing, he spent as much time as he could with his two friends until all three became extremely close. Expecting them to live their lives normally in the capital, they didn’t expect that the recent events of the world would soon change their lives.
LOL, that's a bit dark, but hey, after playing FF7, FF8 and FF4, messed up families and people is what Final Fantasy likes best (apparently). =P
Anyways, everything looks clear, so I'll put him on the character list. I won't put in the whole bio though because last time I did that, the page went funny and half of the words got cut off. O.o; It was strange.
Well, you could always link them. But don't worry, my other two characters's bio won't be that bad as Shion's.
True. Maybe I'll try expirmenting with that method.
Edit: Well, it kinda worked. It didn't go to the bio directly though but it's only a few posts upwards away. ^^;
Try going to my profile, search my posts, find the char. bio and click the link, when the page finishes loading copy the url, then go to your character list, and put in the code(text) for the url (paste the url you copied). That's how I would usually do it, I think. Sorry if how I worded this might confuse you.
1. do the have guns, if so how advanced
2. do sky pirates attack eachother for loot
3. what type of airships are you implying FF2 of FF12 type.
4.is there any connnectiond with this RP to any of the real games
i will probably join if you answer these anyway.
Of course, I'll answer those questions. ^_^
Okay,
Answer 1: They do have guns, but not very advanced ones, since the theme of the RP is steampunk, the regular guns in this world are near to the ones during the Victorian times or something along those lines.
Although you could probably find artefacts that could be weapons from the Golden Age, so it depends on where your gun comes from more or less. XD
Answer 2: Yes, Sky Pirates can attack each other, should it be for loot, revenge, pride, etc. =3
Answer 3: The airships are more or less like as you said FF2's verisons (or FF4). Atlantis, the airship I mentioned briefly, is an ancient airship so you could think of it as the RP's version of the 'Lunar Whale' from FF4. XD
But yeah standard airships are of FF2's style. =3
Answer 4: Nope, this is 100% original. Although, it will have loads of refferences to the games in respect of them. Especially the classic FFs. ^_^
Vash Haessen (pronounced hay-ee-sen)
Gender: Male
Age: 19
Race: Half Featherfolk, Half Nayuri
Birthplace: Lindria
Eye colour: Blue
Hair colour: Blonde
Appearance: Vash stands at 5 feet 7 inches tall with a slender build. He wears a green cloth shirt with a large golden ring around the collar which spans almost to his shoulders, in addition to beige cotton slacks and leather boots. He also wears a red headband.
Occupation: Treasure Hunter
Weaponry: Short Sword and a Revolver
Personal Details/History: Vash doesn't remember his parents. When he was two years old, his parents left him at an orphanage, where he was raised since. Oblivious to his Nayurian blood, he was a very mischeivious child and always had a strong aptitude for magic, often casting spells subconciously when expressing extreme emotions. When he was 16, he was adopted by a middle aged treasure hunter named Maric. Maric taught him all the tricks of the trade. However, Maric died during a dangerous exhibition, leaving Vash his headband and revolver as mementos. Vash now searches the world for treasure to raise money for the orphanage to repay them for all they've done for him.
In battle however, she wears sturdy leather armor reinforced with metal platings.
Occupation: Soldier
Weaponry: Bayonet
Personal Details/History: Riesma was born into a wealthy military family, her father being a high ranking general in the army, and her mother a veteran nurse. Riesma, eager to follow in her father's footsteps, joined the military academy when she was 14, graduating a year early at age 17, and joining the military immediately afterwards. She has risen through the ranks quickly, and now holds the title of First Lieutenant. Riesma's only goal is to become strong enough to surpass her father. to do so, she travels far and wide, accepting any mission the military gives her. She travelled to Lindria under orders from her superiors to gather recon on Regen, but little did she know she was about to become involved in something much bigger...
