Well I didn't like the music at first either but I guess it has gotten better as the story goes on... Though I'm not gonna praise to be nearly the best in the series. |
Really? I think legendia easily has the best music, I think phantasia has the 2nd best. I think tales of symphonia had a pretty weak soundtrack except for a couple of cool songs. (at the end of a thought)I honestly think the music is the biggest weakness of the tales series. I'm not saying it's bad, just not as good as it could be. _________________ 2+2=5 |

Phantasia SFC's music is criminally underrated, it's nice to see it get some recognition. _________________

Agreed, though it all seems to sound better in the GBA version for me (even if the voices were badly recorded rubbish, the music was still great).
ToP and ToS were by far the best musically in my opinion, with Legendia being my most disliked and ToD PS1 being the worst. "From Darkside Emil" (if it's the one I think it is) was pretty awesome though. _________________ The ember is dust before the wind... |

If I recall correctly, the SFC amd GBA versions basically share the same soundtrack, but the GBA version is a lot more muted and fuzzy due to system limitations. So I still hold the SFC version over it. Still, the GBA soundtrack is much better than the horrid PS1 soundtrack... _________________

The GBA's sound chip is inferior to the SNES's sound chip, so naturally SNES games ported to the GBA sound slightly worse. _________________ 2+2=5 |

I never played the psx version, I heard it's the best version though. _________________ 2+2=5 |

The PS1 used to be the best version of the game, but the recent re-re-re-re-re-re-release on the PSP (with Narikiri Dungeon X) is currently the best version.
Unless you're talking musically, in which case ... no. The PS1 soundtrack is bad. "The Second Act" is ruined. _________________

The sound track is the same but they all seem to sound better on the GBA for me. Fuzziness would explain the lousy voices to some extent though. _________________ The ember is dust before the wind... |

Anyway, I just found the whole game to be fun. It was more light-hearted than other Tales games, and the characters were all endearing. Running around the Legacy was always fun, and although most of the dungeons were straight forward the front line and the tower after it was great.
My only complaint was the lack of explanation of the various plot points in the main ending, although the last anime scene was nice. I think it also had a slow start what with Shirley being kidnapped three times in a row, but it evens out after that.
I like Mimi and baking too~ |
