Previous Title: PSP 2 with touch control ...

... on the back of the handheld??

That actually sounds really cool. You can use touch controls while being able to see the entire screen.

Previous Title: PSP2/PSPhone (?) (see pg2)

That sounds really lame and inconvenient, and I really wish Sony would just stop trying to desperately copy Nintendo in attempts to make themselves look good, because it's really giving them the opposite effect.

Eh, yeah, I'll withhold judgment until I see it, but it sounds slightly ... cumbersome based on this initial description. If it's really on the reverse side, all I'm normally doing on the back is gripping with my less precise fingers since my indexes are occupied with the shoulder buttons and my thumbs with the face buttons.

I had no idea DS already has rear-touch controls. Or is it for 3DS?

Yeah, if Sony was copying anyone, it would be Motorola.

Here's a review of one of their latest phones...

The good: The Motorola Backflip features a fresh design with a trackpad behind the display for navigating the phone.

It's actually a really good feature; I enjoyed using it when I tried it out in a store. It takes a few seconds to get yourself oriented when using it for the first time, but after that it's pretty intuitive.

And here's a picture of the pad on the back of the phone.

Well, it's just a rumor so far so I won't call it out until an official announcement has been released.

Once again, Nintendo has created a control scheme fad.

A terrible, terrible control scheme fad.

Why does it always have to be Company "a" stole such and such idea from company "b"? I honestly never have, and never will give a damn about who uses a technology first, but rather who uses it better.

If Sony can put out decent games on this thing, good for them. If they can avoid the horrid Good game to bad game ratio the DS has, awesome. If they can have a game with the graphics of the PSP, with slick touch controls like the DS, then what's there to hate? Just butt-hurt people looking for something to complain about.

just like fysh said, the touch pad on the back is p useful once you get use to it.

though sometimes i forget it's there and i freak out when my screen goes crazy, only to realize i was touching the pad by accident Rollster

I echo this sentiment exactly.

There was nothing wrong with the DS controls. They were just horribly misused in most cases.

Yeah well the fact they're ultimately responsible for http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTYtH28esTg is inexcusable.

Dunno about you, but that actually looks sort of fun.

I'm not convinced any motion sensing device that does not require some form of controller or weird clothing can be accurate. Eye Toy wasn't and I doubt this will be.

Also, once you start adding in voice recognition it becomes laughable how badly these things work in general.

I do recall my sister using an electric toothbrush and walking past while I was using voice recognition software though. It came up saying "brushing her lower teeth". That was amazing!
