Well, I wouldn't be surprised if any of the main cast (Toph, Sokka, Katara, and Zuko) were still alive. They were teenagers in The Last Airbender, so they'd be about 80 something in the Legend of Korra. They may have died, but maybe not. I would say the same about Aang, but obviously he died if there's a new Avatar.
And I'm guessing Momo and Appa died too. ): I don't think they had any way of repopulating either.

We'll probably see Aang in the same way we saw Roku.
I hope the new cast is enjoyable, it'll be hard to beat the old cast. Very excited for this.
Woah missed this part "Under the tutelage of Aang's son, Tenzin, Korra begins her airbending training while dealing with the dangers at large. "
Damn he has a son. o; With Katara???

That happened to me with the original Avatar: The Last Airbender, and with Glee. I had heard about both about a year before their TV debut, hyped myself, and then forgot about them until someone told me they saw it on TV. And then I got all excited again. :3
