Hey everyone,
If any of you have been annoyed by the inability to post foreign characters (Cyrillic, Greek, Chinese hànzì, Japanese, etc.), I've found a workaround for the issue.
If you want to post foreign characters on the forums, you'll want to convert them into HTML decimal entities, since the forum database can't handle the Unicode characters directly.
This is basically what the server used to do automatically but hasn't since the server move, probably because of a configuration change on the web server (a change which wasn't reflected in the database that stores all the posts, users, etc.)
Here's one way to do this:
1. Enter the foreign text into the "mixed input" box on http://rishida.net/tools/conversion/
2. Click "convert".
3. Copy-paste the contents of the "Decimal NCRs" box into your post.
(You could even just plug your whole post into the tool.)
Note that, if you edit your post afterwards, the characters will be converted back to their Unicode form by your browser, which on submitting will not be recognized by the forums. You'd need to reconvert those characters.

Stickying this since I know it's been a very common concern lately. Though this is still an inconvenience and I hope to get the actual issue resolved at some point, this'll alleviate the problem for the time being.
