The day 29/03/2010 an official novel about Decus and Alice was released in Japan. It's title: Never ending thoughts.

Novel Abstract:
When she was little a demon killed her parents in front of her, and so she was sent to an orphanage in Hima. But she was discriminated for being a half-elf. However Decus was the only one who didn't discriminate her. I want to be strong! And in her seeking of power she made a contract with a demon. This is the story about Marta and Emil antagonists, this is the story of Alice and Decus.

All I know about it, it is that basically is a novel about how they met, how they grew together. And explains in a better way than in the game, why Alice risked her life and her obsession with power.

If you are a Alice&Decus fan you should already be happy. They have an official novel.

But If anyone know if there is any hint in the novel about Alice's feelings for Decus, I would like to know it.

A friend of mine who knows Japanese recently bought this novel on the Japanese Amazon. She might be able to tell me more about it and when she does, I'll pass the info on here.

Thank you very much. As a Dekuari fan this is really important to me. I like them as characters, but also as a pair. And I would like to know if in an Alice and Decus novel, Alice shows any hidden concern about Decus, or if they share any moment.

Right now I feel like when RRT was released and I didn't know what it was about. So if you find any information, I would really appreciate it.

I hope someone translated it. I always wanted to know more about the background of each of them; particularly Alice.

Saddly I doubt it. I don't know of a lot Decus and Alice fans, and less that know japanese and want to translate it. I'll conform if Meowzy, or anyone else, answers my question.

And you can know about their past in the game or looking it at youtube. Just telling you in case you didn't know.

And I would like to know more about Decus. I like Alice, but in the game you discover much more about her than about him.
And I would like to know if there is any hint of Alice's feelings for Decus because I would like to see that even if the 90% of her brain is obsessed with power, there is still a 10% that thinks in Decus. I know she does (I don't need to tell why, do I?), but I want the novel to tell me that she did before "that" happened.Any hint would make me happy.

I want to the novel to tell me that their involvement in ToS: DotNW was all a dream and that they star in their own Tales Of game.

Bamco really wasted two great characters on an okay game.

Yeah... I know that feeling. But at least they have been great enough to get an official novel, and who knows if they will have more official stuff. The highter the get in the popularity contest of Tales of games, the more chances the will have to have more official stuff.

I didn't say it in the title, but I created this post to be as much spoiled as I can be about the novel.

Nice. I may buy it if I can find it when I go to Japan. Otherwise, I'll just be happy with my kor novels.

And, like the original Tale Phantasia novel, it's infinitely superior to the game it's adapted into / based on.

Like all the "Tales of..." novels. Like the game but much better. Though this will be different to those, since is about a PoV that is never shown in the game, only mentioned by Alice and Decus in a few side-quest.

As a fan of Alice, Decus, and Dekuari, I am highly content that they now have an official novel delving further into their pasts. Though the back-story given to them in Dawn of the New World was good, I still think their histories should have been provided with more detail. In particular, I would have liked to see them have a few flashbacks (mainly ones that took place during the time they spent at the Hima Orphanage).

Hopefully Meowzy's friend will be able to provide us with more information about the novel. Considering Alice and Decus have a small fan-base outside of Japan, I doubt anyone has translated it.

This is the story about Marta and Emil antagonists, this is the story of Alice and Decus.

So, Alice's parents were killed in front of her by a demon. That would mean she was with them on the pilgrimage they were forced to take with the Church of Martel. I am also not surprised that Decus was the only one who did not abuse her at the Hima Orphanage for being a half-elf. No doubt, that made the people there dislike him even more than they initially did (remember that he was also treated badly for being weak).

I too want to learn more about Decus' past than I do Alice's, since there is more information provided for hers than his in Dawn of the New World. In particular, I want to know how he became an orphan. Perhaps his parents were sent to a Human Ranch. If that is the case, I have to give him even more credit for not discriminating against Alice for being a half-elf.

Considering their romance is an integral part of both Alice and Decus' characters, I am sure the novel provides more details about it. I think it was made evident in the game that Alice loved Decus prior to when he sacrificed himself for her, but I want to know if she had romantic feelings for him before she made a pact with a demon to save his life or if she fell in love with him afterwards. I am certain she at least had feelings of friendship towards him before she made her pact.

I was surprised that neither Alice or Decus made it onto Japan's last list of popular Tales characters, since they do have many Japanese fans. Still, the fact that Alice appeared in the Drama DVD that came with Tales of VS and they have a novel shows that Namco is aware that they do have fans. With that in mind, they might release more official products for them in the future.

I don't know if Decus parents were killed by Desians but knowing how were thing in Sylvarant is quite possible. So yeah, he deserves all that credit.

She was 10 when she made that pact, I doubt that she had any romantic feeling at that age. But the novel proves that they were already friends.

They do, I can ensure you that. That's why they have a official novel now. But those people who like Alice and Decus also like other characters. And not only that, people have to choose between them, what makes people divide the votes between them. Anyway I hope they win this year.

As a DecusxAlice fanfic authot I can tell you that, it is a sad truth. I guess that they had bad look. They were two awesome characters who ended stuck in a mediocre game. If the game was better, I'm quite sure that they would have a good fan-base outside japan too.

But fortunately they have a good fan-base in japan, where it matters, what makes them have official stuff even being evil characters, something that only makes it harder, but Decus and Alice are awesome enough to break though the "evil character wall".

I also have my contacts and I have some novel spoilers, from someone who bought and read the novel. So here is the information I have:

-NOVEL SPOILERS-

The novel is mainly about Alice, but since Decus was so important in her life he is almost as much as Alice in the novel.

In the time line, the novel is divided in two parts: The time they spent in the orphanage, how they became friends, and all that happened to them there; and the five years they spent travelling together.

The plot talks basically about two things: How Alice and Decus became who they were, and their relationship during their childhood and adolescence.

About Dekuari (AlicexDecus): The novel talks about their complicated feelings for each other over that time (adolescence). And it hints that Alice felt in love with Decus, but that she had problems to deal with those feelings, mainly because she had fear to be betrayed by him because he was a human, something that didn't stop her to spend all her life with him.

So yeah, the novel has romantic hints about Alice's feelings for Decus. Something that from my PoV was somehow unavoidable after having spend all that time together

If someone want to add more information about the novel feel free to do it. I'll be glad to know as much as I can.

And to put an end to my reply, a fan-made pic (not mine) about them while they traveled together (left click to size):

P.S: I've just noticed the hearts in the front of the book.
