Well, I agree generally since they don't localize much anyway, but I think it's too early to say the voice acting will be a contributing factor. I mean, ND didn't have VA to begin with and while they can certainly use the FVE samples for Phantasia, there's no way to know if they'll even include all of Phantasia since they're apparently working on integration of two somewhat disparate games. |
True, it could depend on if this is including the PSP version by itself or "switching" back to it when needed. |

Good news, I guess.
I just really hope that they manage to make Phantasia decent, and not just a straight port of FVE. If so, a remake wouldn't be needed for a looooooooooooooooooong time.
Oh, and I'm guessing this is what the Cross thing means. It's ND and Phantasia. _________________

I guess they could as well have called it Tales of Phantasia X Narikiri Dungeon. |

| Looking around it seems the ending illustrator of ToS PS2, TotA and ToV (Production I.G's Kazuyoshi Yaginuma) also did them for this game (he stated so prematurely on his blog some time ago). This may mean the game is actually by Team Symphonia, or a part of it. Or since it is a 2D battle system, Team Hearts? |

I really can't imagine them reusing the FVE assets so soon (and on the same handheld no less) without some significant changes. Or, well, I suppose it's possible, but that'd really be a new low for the series. _________________

Not only is it possible, but it's NB and Phantasia, the game which has yet to have a decent version. I have a bad feeling about this ...

Ha, that actually would have worked.

I sure hope it's Team Hearts. Hearts did some great things; I'd like to see them apply it to Phantasia. _________________

Even if they've not given us what most here would consider a "decent" version yet, they haven't just tossed out the same game twice on the same console. After the SFC version, the PSX version offered a complete overhaul in terms of graphics, battle system, character development, etc. The GBA version was reworked with revamped sidequests, altered graphics, etc. and was meant as a companion piece to Symphonia. Only the PSP version is more or less a direct port with added voices and slightly altered sprites, but then again, the PSP is full of Tales ports from the PSX and PS2. I don't see much of a difference between the FVE and things like ToD2 PSP, ToE PSP, ToR PSP, etc. _________________

True, although they've never released the same game twice on the same system (except DestinyR and Destiny:DC, but that's different), so you can't really call precedence. _________________

My eye's infected and it's hard for me to see that screen of ToP, but it looks like Efreet is summoned at the same time as another spell.
If there really is no more spell freeze in Phantasia, I'll definitely get this even though I just got the original Narikiri Dungeon last year. _________________

Are you implying Tales of Phantasia has critical, plot-mandatory character development in optional (and, thus, missable) cutscenes?
... oh, yeah, I almost forgot this series does that **** a lot. _________________
