Gonny. The video showed Samus running in a 3D plan. It isn't 2.5D

Being the old Metroid and rotten anime junkie that I am this is probably the most interesting thing to me in years that isn't a fighting game.

The perspective isn't what I'm worried about. I actually want to play Prime. _________________

Team Ninja scares me because the Ninja Gaiden games were half fun, half atrocity
I still need to beat a Metroid Prime game

I love the Metroid games, so I am definitely getting this the day it comes out. The fact it's coming out so soon is great too. _________________

So if the 2D games are fantastic and you're interested in Prime

The hitting or missing being directly dependent on the factor of whether or not Goosumi makes an appearance in the game. _________________ SOON.

Well, for one, it's by Team Ninja.
But mainly it's because I don't enjoy the direction that Other M seems to be taking. The best thing about Metroid is its atmosphere— very desolate, isolated— and that it's just Samus, by her lonesone, in a hostile planet (or spaceship). Other M completely destroys this by giving Samus a cast of characters to interact with, and seemingly, go on missions with.
Combined with the gameplay generally looking more action-y than previous titles, Other M simply doesn't look like a Metroid game, but more like an action game with the Metroid franchise slapped on.
And before you bring up how Fusion gave Samus someone to interact with (Adam), it's different. One, Adam was your CO, and thus was never there with you. Two, you could only contact Adam in predetermined locations. Three, any relaxed feelings were offset (and then some) by the SA-X. Other M doesn't seem to have any of these 'restrictions'.
(and while this isn't a major issue, I am a tad bugged that it takes place between Super and Fusion. Fusion opened up a lot of potential stories and conflicts, and I'm saddened nobody has capitalised on them yet.) _________________

Wasn't it pretty obvious from the beginning that this was not going to be a traditional Metroid game?
