Here we go again. Some of you may have known me for making the Tales of Graces menu patch. I never finished the entire menu due to the game being translated completely by another group, and I was satisfied with how much was done.

So, I decided to move on to this. This is only a menu translation patch. If someone else wants to be pro and translate the whole thing, kudos to them, but I'm just providing a patch that will help people play through the game for what they can. Don't expect it to translate EVERYTHING, but I will translate as much as I can. Please do not yell at me to translate "this" or "that." I am working at my own pace and getting as much done as I can. It is a CONSTANT work in progress, much like the Tales of Graces patch was, and you can expect big changes very fast. I will be releasing as I go.

I happily accept bug reports and suggestions. Feedback makes me happy and drives me forward.

PATCH RELEASE v0.12:
http://www.mediafire.com/?g83m35bh2ju746s

INSTRUCTIONS:
You will need custom firmware to use this patch.
1) Backup your ISO file onto your computer.
2) Open your ISO in UMDGen.
3) Open the PSP_GAME folder, and then the SYSDIR folder.
4) Right click EBOOT.OLD and press "Apply PPF patch to Selected File."
5) Choose top_eboot_v010.ppf, and press Apply. Close UMDGen when it says it has patched the file.
6) Open PPF-o-matic.
7) Under ISO file, click the disk and select your ISO.
8) Under Patch, click the disk and select the top_iso_v010.ppf file.
9) Click "Apply." Your game is now patched!

DISCLAIMER:
1) This game has some requirements to bypass to run on custom firmware. I will provide no support in doing this, only applying the patch.
2) This patch is confirmed to work on a PSP. If the game does not load for you, then something is wrong with your method of loading backups. I personally will provide no support in loading the game, but hopefully others will.
3) I will not help you get custom firmware on your PSP.
4) Nothing in the patch is final. Anything can be changed at any time for any reason.

Lucky you, since Namco always use the same icons we all know the items perfectly.

Are you going to do a menu patch for Phantasia X too?

More people should post feedback. :| A lot of people have downloaded it but only a few have posted. I need to know if it's at least looking good.

It looks helpful, but I'm afraid I won't be able to test it for a long while--it's a bit of a long story, but I no longer have a Custom firmware PSP.
I do wish you luck though, it looks like it'll be a big help to those that don't know Japanese. :3

I just had a thought, but when I get the game for Christmas, I'll see what I can translate story wise, since I'm learning Japanese. 'w'
...I can't hack for the life of me, but I can try to translate. ^ ^;

I got warned on GameFAQs... I guess no more posting the patch there. :)

I translated the equipment menu and the grade menu. I can't test the grade menu cause I haven't finished the game, but it sure would be nice if someone posted screenshots or at least told me if it looked okay.

I'll post a new one soon.

EDIT: Patch updated.

-Translated the status menu (couple more things).
-Translated the grade menu (this took a while, I need someone to look at it for me and hopefully screenshots since my game isn't done).
-Translated the equipment menu.
-Translated the costume types in the costume menu.
-Translated item categories in the item menu.
-Translated a bunch of random menu buttons (at the bottom of the screen).
-Translated actions on the field (example, press circle to talk, save, world map, etc).
-Fixed an overflow in the cooking menu.
-Random other stuff I don't remember.

Have fun. Please do what you can to raise awareness of the patch's existence.

If someone can provide the EBOOT.BIN I can work on it, but it's difficult to test a patch for a game I don't have.

Then how did you get the NDX EBOOT.BIN? NDX and ToP X are on the same disc ....

And nice to see you doing one of these again! Will hold me over until we get an official/fan translation. Well, it would hold me over if I had the game.

EDIT: I'm dumb. For some reason I thought the games were bought separately and didn't realize that "Tales of Phantasia" is in the bottom right corner of the main menu. I had never intended to buy it because I really didn't care enough, but now I can play that too if I feel like it.

In terms of translation... I'm not going to bother. By looking at it, it's pretty much the other PSP or PSX version with the different battle system. I figured it would at least have been upgraded a bit more besides that, but oh well. I'm just going to stick to Narikiri Dungeon X.
