|
|
So I found a cheap deal for a DS and decided to get it. So now I need game suggestions. I'm pretty open to anything, except I'm not into love simulation games, H-games, etc. There seem to be a ton of those for the DS.
I've been trying to look through the DS library for hours and I'm feeling overwhelmed. It's freaking huge. Care to give a suggestion or two?
I usually play RPGs on my PS2, and I have a soft spot for SRPGs. But I wouldn't mind a break from those. I like Mario and Kirby platformer games. Other than RPGs, I also play Yakuza/Ryu ga Gotoku, Samurai Warriors/Sengoku Musou, and Metal Gear Solid... none of which I'd expect to have decent counterparts on the DS, but it might help you with your suggestions.
If anyone's going to suggest Pokemon games, my current plan is to get back into Pokemon games with Heart Gold or Soul Silver. But if you feel that I should play any of the others, feel free to try convincing me. |

Chrono Trigger, if you don't have any of the other versions, is always a great choice when it comes to RPGs.
The Castlevania games (Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclessia) are all enjoyable, and definitely worth checking out.
The Mega Man ZX games are also awesome platformers for the DS.
If you like Mario, then definitely pick up New Super Mario Bros. It's very short, but it's a hell of a lot of fun and definitely can be played through multiple times.
The Sonic Rush games are also a great deal of fun, if you enjoy the older Sonic games, or the Sonic Advance games. _________________

Cloud's list is good, but there are some omissions. Most notably:
Aside from that, Hotel Dusk is a must if you enjoy adventure games, and you'd probably enjoy Kirby: Canvas Curse (which is still one of the best examples of touch screen gameplay). _________________

I don't know if Fire Emblem DS is worth checking out, but I want that game, so yeah.
Also, the Etrian Odyssey games are very highly recommended~ those are SRPGs.
And THE ACE ATTORNEY SERIES. Start from Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, then Justice for All, and Trials and Tribulations. THEN, AND ONLY THEN, should you start Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney. However, the first game is harder and harder to find these days, I hear. :(
Final Fantasy IV DS is an awful lot of fun, and if you like PUZZLES go for Professor Layton and the Curious Village. Or Scribblenauts, wahahaha.
Yeah, the DS library *is* huge. There are still loads of games I still want, actually, like the Trauma Center series. XD _________________

Hoshigami Remix
Luminous Arc
Luminous Arc 2
Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2
Drone Tactics
If your into imports, Super Robot Taisen K and W
Those are my recommendations in terms of Strategy.
Other games:
Trauma Center 1 & 2
Phoenix Wright. (Ignore the Apollo games imo.)
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles
Time Hollow (Only if you can handle visual novel gameplay.)
Rune Factory
I know there's at least a few more, but that's all I can think of at the moment. For the sheer size of the DS's library, it's actually not that impressive :/ _________________

Most definitely not. Fire Emblem DS is a terrible remake. The only "improvement" I see are the graphics and that's about it. I'm surprised I finished the game in the first place!
If anything, you would have more of a blast with Fire Emblem 7 (The Blazing Sword), and Fire Emblem 8 (The Sacred Stones) but they're both GBA games.
And since the Kirby series have been mentioned, you should prioritize on getting Kirby Super Star Ultra. If you're going for Final Fantasy's Crystal Chronicles, get Echoes of Time. _________________

Like others have said, Chrono Trigger is amazing and an absolute must have. If you like Kingdom Hearts, 358/2 days comes out on the 29th, and ive only heard good about it. Phantom Hourglass was a pretty enjoyable title, so if you don't mind touch screen, pick that up...you said you were gonna get back into Pokemon later, but I found D/P/P to be a pretty enjoyable generation, so give Platinum a chance, imo.
Uh...Mario and Luigi RPG 3 comes out soon, and will probably be excellent, and New Super Mario Bros is an absolute blast. Kirby Super Star Ultra is probably some good fun too, but I haven't picked it up yet ='( _________________ [She already knows the strength it takes to smile until the end...]

AJ is fine. The leaps in logic are kinda bad, yeah, but not as bad as T&T's, especially since they did away with being able to present profiles. If you like the series, it's still a pretty good game. _________________
