So what have you guys been obsessing about recently, and what have you been obsessed about in the past? I know there's probably a fair lot of you that don't care about anything and say "I don't obsess about anything", but I'm sure there's some of you out there.
Right now, I guess I'm obsessed with Tales games (cliche new user answer, I know) and basically anything that can be put onto a PSP or DS. I never really turn on my consoles unless friends are around. Umm, I guess I'm obsessing about my new kitten too. I figure once my college semester starts up in 3 weeks or so I'll be obsessed about that.
As for past obsessions...DDR and FFXI were prominent. Both about as equal, I'd say. DDR I had AAA'd Rhythm and Police, A (the song), and eversnow, one of which being a 9 footer. I also would get pretty consistent A's on most Max songs (on home versions I had AA'd Max300 and Maxx Unlimited, but home versions feel easier/different from arcade version). That was about when I was about 12-14. Going to a mall or something was fun to me just because they'd usually have a machine set up somewhere.
FFXI sucked away a lot of my teenage years, as I played the game basically from age 14 to 18. Lots of jobs at 75, above average gear for all of them except Bard, etc. etc. Stuck with it for a while because I felt like I had some sort of obligation and, to me, there wasn't anything else to do. Then Brawl came around and I stopped, lol, and I played a few Tales games and put it to rest. _________________

I have an on and off Mega Man obsession. For instance, right now it's on and I'm playing lots of Mega Man. Give it a month or two, and it'll go away for a bit, but come back eventually.
Also used to have the Tales obsession. Died down considerably though, and I barely play the games unless it's a new one (hi rebirth sorry i haven't finished you).
I was also incredibly obsessed with Kingdom Hearts when I was 11-14 years old (yay 3 year obsession). It came back a couple of months ago for a bit, and I played through both CoM and 2 constantly. It was good for relieving stress, at least.
I also used to be incredibly obsessed with KOS-MOS. I kinda still am. She still turns me on, oh baby.
And then, of course, the MOTHER obsession. I played 3, and was like "wow this is an amazing game" and I masturbated to it constantly, played (and later bought) Earthbound, masturbated to that too, and now I own MOTHER1+2 and MOTHER3.
There is, of course, a lot more from even further down the line, but I don't want to write a novel about all my obsessions. I get obsessed with far too many things. _________________ HG FC: 5414 2087 9802 |

I used to have little hardcore obsessions that would last from three weeks to six months, from ToS to Harry Potter to Avatar, etc. Just stories I would get hooked on and then the interest would fade. It's calmed down now, I figure it's just part of maturing.
I'm sort of into Band of Brothers atm. <3 _________________

Ouch. KH has like the worst fanboys and ESPECIALLY fangirls I've ever seen. But I'll admit that I was contemplating playing #2, and I played a bit of 358/2 Days (10 hours? Didn't finish). _________________

Dragonball Z in elementary school, then they started playing Dragonball when I got into middleschool. I also was obsessed with Gundam Wing. I used to watch the episode in the afternoon on cartoon network and then watch the uncut version of the same episode at midnight.
Basically the Toonami block when I was a kid. _________________

Oops. Yeah, I guess before everything else, I was into Toonami. I'd watch almost everything that came on, and would be happy to come home so I could watch it. _________________

I have had many obsessions in my life. Chronicling the ones I've had/still have since being part of these forums:
Shin Megami Tensei - After picking up Persona 3, I was hooked on the series, so I searched for the other SMT games wherever I could find them. The last game I've actually liked of the series and still like is Digital Devil Saga, which is my current favorite of the series thus far, but I've been trying to avoid SMT for a while now. Except the occasional trip to Imagine, in which I'm part of a decent community that helps me break out of my boredom cycle every so often
Classic Final Fantasy Games - I really blame Final Fantasy IV DS for this. The combination of the good things and bad things from this remake revived my urge to actually pick up the classic FF games I still have, even so much to the extent that I finally moved the SNES, FFVI, FFIV, SMRPG, SMW, SM All Stars, and Super Metroid out of the closet and into the room I'm currently sleeping in.
Rydia - This has to have been one of my longest-lasting obsessions, and it helps that she's my favorite female character of the FF series. It's been really on and off over the years, more so off when I wanted to avoid classic FF games after the disappointment that was FFIV Advance, but the DS version brought this back into full swing, and I get the inkling that this won't go away for a while.
Miku Hatsune/Vocaloid - I've been aware of the existence of Vocaloid since shortly after the release of Miku, but I never found a song I particularly liked, but one day sometime in February, I found a couple of videos that just...attracted me to it. As these months have progressed, I've been finding myself liking more and more songs and scurrying to find the mp3s to some of these, which I have about 80 something of, not particularly being picky with who's singing except the pedo twins, who I have an odd dislike for apparently.
Silent Hill - I still like this series, and it has almost been 10 years since my dad bought that copy of the first game and played through it all (I still have it amazingly), and I find this series hard to get bored of.
Mythology - Ever since I had to read a couple of Greek myth stories in the 8th grade, it has always fascinated me, but I've just recently branched out to Roman mythology (steals from Greek, but adds some extra stuff like Janus) and Japanese mythology. Whenever I get to finishing those books on Greek and Japanese myths that I'm not even half way through, I'm gonna go try to find some books on Egyptian, Norse, and Chinese mythology next. _________________

I can't relate to those examples but I do see where you're coming from with the weeks to months thing. Some personal interests just grab you and refuse to let go.
Anyway definitely DBZ (and Toonami in general) when I was kid along with the one summer I spent getting everything in Chrono Trigger. Recently...let's see Phoenix Wright, Haruhi, Lucky Star, Death Note, Code Geass, Gurren Lagann, and Persona 4 come to mind.
Pro wrestling has always been a sort of obsession, Rockband is current for gaming, Paramore for music, and X-Men Evolution on television (I make it a point to watch it every night on Disney XD) _________________ *Icon_Credit/Sig by Dede/Rise by Rein, many thanks*

I used to be obsessed with Gundam Wing as a child
My obsessions are currently limited to cats, Pop Tarts, and penguins however. _________________

Past obsessions would be... Transformers, Power Rangers, and Yugioh. And kind of Pokemon. Pokemon, I've loved since I was 6, but then I kind of lost interest in it, became obsessed again, now I still like it, but not really obsessed with it. Maybe I still I am. But with all of these, I'd try to watch them every chance I had. We didn't get cable until a few years ago, though, so sometimes the channels they were on didn't come in. =( Music has always been an obsession though, and will continue to be.
For current obsessions, my laptop, and... Video games I guess? _________________

Obsessions...?
I played Runescape when I was younger, that's about it. I joined in the Yugioh and Beyblade fads and still have everything stored and stuff.
Currently, Touhou. Lots of it.
And uh completely related, Comiket starts tomorrow. Can't wait. _________________

ReBoot's my current one, obv. <3 It's a recurring love - I was really into it for about a year or so in middle school/early high school, starting back when season 4 was showing on Cartoon Network in 2001, and it would occasionally resurface, but I was really hit with it again back in mid-June and it hasn't let go of me.
On a smaller level I'm obsessing over Ouran High School Host Club and Pokemon (another recurring one).
I've had a bajillion past obsessions (I've just got that sort of personality, I suppose) so I doubt I could list them all. Music groups, movies, video games, etc. Some would last for a couple weeks, some would last for years. Tales of Symphonia was a big one. Star Trek: Voyager. Baten Kaitos. Illusion of Gaia. Whatever caught my interest. _________________ ~MarshmallowEgg: Resident forum band geek/musician~

I loved Pokemon for a long time, but I was absolutely obsessed with The Legend of Zelda from the third grade to the end of my eighth grade year. Other things I really liked were Dragonball Z, Tales of Symphonia, Baten Kaitos, and Fullmetal Alchemist, but Zelda really reigned above them all. I still like it but I'm not so crazy about it anymore.
Current obsessions...none, really. Maybe paranormal stuff? Right now I'm reliving parts of my childhood by replaying Baten Kaitos. _________________

When I was a young boy, I was obsessed with washing machines, ceiling fans and sprinklers. I was... a weird child.
More recently: the newest edition to my family, mittens the cat. _________________ "Love of one is a piece of barbarism: for it is practised at the expense of all others. Love of God likewise."
