Do any of you actually agree with me that it's better than the original now?

It's hard to say right now, mixed feelings and whatnot. For now I'll say it is, but I'll get back to you when I finish the game.

Yeah, I like it better than the original, for the most part. My only pet peeves so far are the voice acting for a couple characters, and the story's linearity. It's much better graphically and gameplay-wise.

No. The sole redeeming feature of this game is Alice.

I think it's better. The characters in the original were so vapid and boring, and characters are really the best part of the Tales series. This cast is much better, including the old Symphonians who inexplicably have personalities now. I'd say the first chapter is worse, but from there out, it's been much more enjoyable. I'll report back when I've finished.

It has a certain charm to it.

I'm disappointed with some of the voice changes, and how many **** Bleach dub actors there are; but the new voices are really nice. Imo Bosch's voice switch changes too much. Emil may be a wimp, but it was a bit overkill. Talking to everyone in Luin in the beginning of the game was absolutely hilarious, though. The story isn't as linear as Symphonia, which I like, but it's still fairly straightforward so far. Skits are 50 times better; I actually like them. Then again, voice acting helps.

I can't super abuse Free Run as much as Abyss, but I haven't seen many spells yet, so. Emil is broken. He runs like an arrow that turn around at will. You don't even need Backstep. On the other hand, bosses aren't staggered as easily. Forcing monsters on you is gross, but so far I actually like the monster mechanic of leveling up, feeding, evolving etc. The whole Elemental Grid + Capture monsters + Unison Attack thing is a bit confusing, I'll need to work on that.

So far I like it better than Symphonia, but we'll have to see later on.

My impressions so far (I'm in chapter 5)

Positive

- Skits are very lulzy. I actually laughed out loud on many occasions.
- Battle system is as fun as ever
- Good caracthers for the most part. I especially like Martha, Tenebrae and Richter.
- For a Wii game, nice graphics
- No time wasted travelling the world map
- Nice monster system

Negative

- Normal Emil is annoying. Ratatosk Emil is a ***ing douchebag. He makes me think of Ash from ToA and thats NOT a good thing. Seriously I just want to punch the guy.
- Way too many recycled dungeons from the original game
- Too many unavoidable encounters
- The Symphonia cast feels more like guests than actual menbers of the team.

So, in short I find it to be very far from perfect, but still a good game worth playing.

That's pretty much what they are, guest characters.

Any of you wonder what the name of the game has to do with its plot?

DoTnW - The beginning of the united worlds.
KoR - Emil.

Both the names work out well.

So far it seems better, only things i don't like are Zelos's voice actor and how linear things seem to be, i'm already in Chapter 3, and I only got the game on Thursday Razz (I guess that's not SO bad) but definatley this is better, and I love that Emil can do lots of Aerial Combos <3 only real pet peeve is that i seem to have to use gels alot more, but you get more money, so it compensates Razz Oh, and i hate that there's not much i can do to customize Marta's AI she uses way too much TP no matter what, and her TP can't seem to handle her First Aid needs Razz

As I see it, the plot is focused on Ratatosk. Yes, the worlds were united but that was what...2 years ago? I think that if the plot is supposed to be centered on the beginning of the new world then it would've started after the worlds became one. We would see the immediate changes that happened to the world, and how exactly the Vanguard formed. In the prologue it happened over a period of 2 years, and alot can happen in that time. But wait...isn't that when the Blood Purge happened? If so then what caused it? How does Marta fit into all of this? How did she get ahold of the Ratatosk core and how did she learn about it? This would probably make for a good book...

Ehh the main focus of the game is really Ratatosks rebirth and the tension between the two worlds so either work out.

I really liked chapters 1-7 more than the original, that twist at the very end of 7 with Emil's identity revealed sort of made me "...wat?" but I'll have to play through 8 to see if it's for the better or not. It felt almost tacked on, but not at the same time. I wish that more of the original party was with you than just basically Sheena and Regal, they where with you like forever and everyone else felt sort of like they came and went.

Also, whoever said that Alice is the sole redeeming factor of the game is oh so wrong, that ***** needs to die >.>...
