Does anyone know when tod2 for ps2 is gonna get released in the US?
Also is it the same game as tod2 for psx, but with updated graphics etc, or is it a different game just with the same name? |

its a sequel to Tales of Destiny on PSX.....Tales of Destiny 2 on psx is known as Tales of Eternia and its a different storyline....ToD2 on PS1 and PS2 are different i think

Yup. After Tales Studio made Tales of Destiny, they made another game named Tales of Eternia. They localized Tales of Destiny, and even though it didn't sell too well, they decided to take their chances with localizing Tales of Eternia, which they hoped would do better because it improved on Tales of Destiny in several areas. However, the theory is that the He-man cartoons were popular in the US and they were set in the land of Eternia, so they might've had some legal/copyright issues or whatnot. So Namco Hometek decided to change Tales of Eternia to Tales of Destiny II when they localized it. Tales of Destiny II/Eternia is not related in story/characters to Tales of Destiny in any way, but I guess Namco decided if Final Fantasy can similarly name story-unrelated games, they can too. ^^0
Later, Namco released Tales of Destiny 2 in Japan, which is an actual sequel to Tales of Destiny (the characters in ToD2j are the children of the characters in ToD or something like that). Tales of Destiny 2 is not scheduled for a release in NA.
When people say, "Tales of Destiny II (Eternia)" or "ToD2US", they're talking about Tales of Eternia's localized version. When they say, "Tales of Destiny 2 (Japan)" or ""ToD2j", they are referring to the real sequel to Tales of Destiny that is only available in Japan.
