Who should get Senel? [spoilers]

Walter. YOU CANNOT DENY THEIR HIDDEN FEELINGS FOR EACH OTHER UNDER THE HATRED THEY SHARE

I don't really mind seeing Senel with Chloe or Shirley. Either way, I'm content.

Voted Chloe, not because I dislike Shirley, but because I still think it's moderately strange/creepy for her to go after the guy that wanted to marry her sister. I can't imagine ever wanting to date my boyfriend's brother or something, it would feel like a crappy replacement every time you looked at him (obv from Senel's perspective here).

I still think Shirley should've gone for Walter.

I'm all for Chloe (and Stella, of course). I mean, most people probably find it awkward that in the Japanese version, even though Shirley is "in love" with Senel, she calls him Brother, still. Norma also says while sleeping (in either version, I'd assume), "Brother... He'll always be your brother..."

Besides, I really don't like the whole "my lover is dead, so I'll go for the younger sister". If you ask me, Senel seemed to be like, "Ohsheet. Looks like the Mainland will be destroyed if I don't make a super quick, half-assed confession to Shirley right now."

There's also the fact that if not for Chloe, Senel would never have been ABLE to stop Shirley, because thanks to Chloe, he received Sacred Eres from the Quiet Nerifes.

I could go on for a looong time as to why Senel/Shirley just DOESN'T work... so I should probably stop here. ^^;

Yeah, the story forced Senel into a relationship he didn't want from what I can tell. He didn't really have any interest in Chloe either but atleast she didn't try to kill countless innocent people in revenge.

Chloe is more deserving IMO.

The thing is, Senel REJECTED Shirley to her face. Then she decided to go and try to kill all the Orerines. If Senel DIDN'T say what he did, she wouldn't kept going. I personally think it was his way of saving everyone rather than actually liking her that way. It seems he does have an interest of some sort in Chloe by Chloe's character quest, just based on how he acts toward her. He wasn't like that with Shirley. He showed more of an older brother type of thing for her.

I don't recall any unusual interaction with Chloe during the CQ besides the whole "killing people doesn't solve anything" thing which was shown to be nothing more than caring for her as a friend and knowing that she couldn't live with murder on her hands.

That last part seems a little odd, however as Chloe is introduced at the beginning as having stepped into a married couple's argument and beaten the husband to death, due to being overzealous in what she perceives to be her duty as a knight.

Chloe didn't kill the husband. Will says, "I heard you jumped into a couple's squabble and beat the man half to death." In other words, she didn't KILL him. Trust me; I'd say I know at least half the game's dialogue by heart at this point. I've played it enough to know enough of it.

That and Senel was injured BY Chloe. but still refused to let her go. Even after Chloe left him on the ground at night, he was still telling her not go. He woke up the next morning with Shirley having healed him, and he insisted he'd go after Chloe no matter what, as he literally says, "No matter what." At this point, Shirley gives in and tells him everyone's waiting at the hospital.

Really, do I have to make an entire manifesto over my views on this pairing? O.o

It's not as if I don't know near exact wordings of odd lines too, I just couldn't remember whether the word "half" was in there or not and decided to opt for not for some reason.

Yes, he goes after her, claiming he must stop her "no matter what" but, while less urgent and to a lesser extent, the same sort of thing happens with other characters all through the CQs and it comes up several times that he could not bear to have anything happen to his "family".

I can agree that what Senel does goes well beyond the normal limits of friendship (no matter how cold the idea of limits to it may sound) but, considering Senel's backstory, it makes sense for him to be overly attached to the only friends he's ever had (apart from Stella) and I do get the impression that that's all there is too it. Especially as he follows the usual clueless main character cliche in every other way.

He actually doesn't. When Jay was taken with Shirley by Solon to Mirage Palace, he wasn't going to the same extent for Jay. Moses was more intent on getting Jay back than Senel. People can argue he acted the same with Grune as he did Chloe, but EVERYONE acted that way, so that's not a fair comparison.

Solon having Shirley WAS urgent, because if she got used again like what happened with Vaclav, then yes, lots of things could've happened. However, they weren't as rushed about it as with Chloe.

Even if he were clueless about Chloe liking him, that doesn't mean he didn't develop feelings for her. You can like someone without knowing they like you back. It's also not revealed if Chloe ever told him her true feelings when they were together while the others waited for them at Werites Beacon. Since we don't see them and we see Will's group, nobody really knows what happened. He may have also had some hint to it when they were alone together while it was raining.

Still a huge fan of Senel/Chloe. From the sounds of it, you're supporting Senel/Shirley or Senel/Nobody. But fine, if he can't have Chloe and doesn't get Stella or Shirley, then it's Senel/Giet! > : O Fair enough! *huff*

I'm not adverse to the idea of Senel ending up with Chloe and don't really care much for Senel x Shirley. I just think that the game shows no real interest in Chloe or Shirley from Senel. Senel goes with Shirley because he's forced into it but even then it's only because of his near drowning that he ends up stuck with her.

Chloe deserves to end up with Senel, it just doesn't happen that way and Senel's lack of showing much interest (even if you're right on the CQ that's only one bit) doesn't exactly help things along.

Also, I'm more inclined to think that Moses x Giet would work.

Sometimes, I think Senel would have preferred drowning... I know I would. Not that I hate Shirley, but she really gets on my nerves sometimes. She's far too obsessive, and hell, even Walter noticed that. Then off to emo land he went. ...Then he died. What fun luck.

I could point out plenty of parts of the MQ about them, but like I said, I don't really want to get into a whole manifesto about this. I'd actually prefer a manifesto on a pair like Zelos/Lloyd or Moses/Jay. Although I'm not saying I would never make a Senel/Chloe one. I doubt there'd have to a Stella/Senel one, because that already happened, whether anyone likes it or not.

Yeah, it would. But if I were Senel and didn't drown like I'd have wanted to, and I had to choose between Giet and Shirley, I'd stay with Giet. Go live happily ever after in the Quiet Lands with Giet. A true fairytale that's slightly awkward and makes little sense.

Senel was lucky to get away in the CQs.

I can understand you not wanting to go into detail but I honestly don't see much to suggest Senel x Chloe. Certainly nowhere near as much as there is to suggest that Zelos has a thing for Lloyd. I get the feeling that's just him messing around but you never can be sure with Zelos.

In my opinion, Senel never really got over Stella enough to have a proper relationship. Atleast not until well after the whole Shirley incident, which left him with no real options (she got pretty mad over the whole Grune mix up for a start and I get the feeling Nerifes would have gone evil all over again if Shirley was angry with Senel).
