Well, if you folks have been keeping up with the Tales series in the last few years, you'll know that I usually start to promote this little place around the launch of a game. Well, I'm a tidbit early this year, but nothing like the early bird getting the worm right? Anyway, it's not the most active place, but we're still a small tight knit community. People are usually on/off in there. While me personally, I'm either at work or playing Vesperia. But do come by if you'd like to discuss "Tales of" and more (It doesn't only have to be Tales discussion)
Only real rules to the place is that you behave, and don't spoil things for others. See the link in my sig for further details, but I'll post the guide to getting there as well.
Also, I'm still holding the banner contest and holding my word to it. I've just been absolutely held up on it. Person that I was working with has been also really busy with school and work. But I promise at some point when it's up, we'll have a nice contest going and yes, the winner will win an '08 Tales title!
Anywho...
The first step in connecting is to download the mIRC client:
1. download it at mirc.com
2. run the setup file and install
3. run mIRC and at the connect screen, click add
4. Type in "ETG" for the description
5. for IRC server input: ca2.EnterTheGame.Com (Also try ny.enterthegame.com if the Cali server isn't working)
6. Leave port as 6667
7. Type in your nickname
8. hit "Connect"
9. in the box that says "Enter name of channel to join" input #tales (or go into the server window and type: /join #tales
Also, Shinryu's site, (who's our fantastic affiliate) also has a nice java IRC client up if you'd rather use that.

Strange, doesn't work for me on mIRC, or any of the java chatrooms. It says something about a trojan and automatically disconnects me everytime

Haha, so it seems, the java client Shinny's using isn't welcome on the server we're on. XD Well, All I can suggest if you are interested and willing to go the mile, try mIRC or some other client. Unless... you really have a trojan Zeta, then I hope you can get that fixed for your own sake.

Hm, I've ran a few virus checks on my comp and found no trojans, also I reinstalled mIRC. It still disconnects me when I try joining immediately but doesn't say anything about a trojan, just says "unable to resolve server"
Though, my internet is working just fine, and I'm able to join other servers without any problems. Could this issue have anything to do with the fact that my IP is a canadian one, and maybe your server doesn't accept anything out of USA?

No IP blocks are far as I know. You could also try connecting to irc.enterthegame.com. I usually recommend CA2 since it's one of the more stable ones, but the one I listed should also work fine and redirect you to one of them.
On side note, saw Tania stop by. Don't be too shy to stick around folks! I was asleep, and now I'm about to go out to lunch. I'll try to keep up and help out on the problems though.

How's your firewall? Got the right ports open?

I've experimented with my firewall. heck, I even turned it off completely one time very briefly and it still didn't let me join, so my firewall (Which I know I should not have done, lol!) must not be the problem.

Hrm Zeta, did you try check with spybot amongst other things? I keep seeing you join, but you get killed by having a trojan-ed machine.

Yes I fixed my machine. And I tried entering the chatroom on 2 other computers in my house (which all use the same network/ISP of course) and it did not work on either! So I'm thinking that this is some kind of a network issue. But ahh, really clueless on this one since I don't know a lot about computers. X:

Oh sorry, when I responded earlier and said "fixed my machine" I meant that I did more virus checks and such. But that it doesn't work on mIRC on any of the computers I tried, as well on shinryu's site java enabled version, and your java enabled version. I'm gonna ask my brother about his computer, since he's a regular mIRC user, I wonder if his can connect.
