It's not that I forget Shirley, I'm just personally weirded out by the idea of going from sister to sister. If my boyfriend died, I wouldn't want to date his brother... it seems somewhat disrespectful to the dead and it would do nothing but remind me of the one I had actually been in love with. Just seems like a big mess.
Shirley's still a character that I really like, I just prefer the idea of Senel with Chloe after he's had time to get over Stella. |

I can't see Walter x Shirley. XD
I guess it's just that Walter was devastated at the death of Fenimore, and he angrily blamed the Orerines (I felt that Walter paid special attention to Fenimore's death.) for her death, and just seemed overall sad about it. He even requested to bury her, with a bit of begging if you asked me. :/

I cannot see Walter x Fenimore. There is no proof in-game that they are romantically interested in each other.
Yes, Walter was angry over Fenimore's death. However, keep in mind that he would have reacted that way over any Ferines dying at the hands of an Orienes. The Orienes invaded the home of the Ferines and went on to persecuting them. Naturally, Walter hated the Orienes for not only invading his people's home, but also for discriminating against and killing thousands of them. Of course, seeing an Orienes murdering a Ferines made him mad.
As far as burying Fenimore's body goes, he only offered to do so because Shirley asked for her to be buried. Walter, ever the faithful servant of his Merines, wanted to please her. It was not because he loved Fenimore that he offered to bury her, but rather that he wanted to make Shirley happy.
Anyway, I am all for:
Stella x Senel: Such a bitter sweet romance. Stella was definitely the love of Senel's life, and while Chloe may be similar to Stella in terms of personality, I cannot see anyone else by his side. Seeing her die was truly heart breaking for him. Not even Shirley, Stella's own sister, was as upset over her passing as Senel. If that is not true love, I do not know what is.
Norma x Grune: Norma and Grune were great together. They were "The Laugh Briggade," and all of their interaction with one another prior to when Grune's memories returned was entertaining. It is a shame that Grune not only became a boring stiff in her CQ, but also returned to nothingness at the end of the game. Poor Norma.
Shirley x Walter: As far as I am concerned, Walter was in love with Shirley. There are a few scenes in the game that suggest this, such as the scene in which Melanie taunts Walter in the Water Ways for being Shirley's knight-in-shining armor and Walter's final words before dying. Walter was willing to do anything for Shirley and would have bottomed to her anytime. Shame that it is one-sided. Shirley is completely obsessed with Senel. As such, she is too narrow minded to view anyone else romantically (Walter included).
And I dislike:
Senel x Shirley: Their relationship is unhealthy. Shirley is completely dependent on Senel and is very clingy towards him. If they were to get together, these traits would stand out further and be made even more obnoxious than they are now. Furthermore, Shirley is unworthy of Senel's love, since she was going to wipe out an entire race of people over the fact that he rejected her for Stella.
Jay x Moses: I do not like bickering pairs.
Moses x Norma: They are too much alike to have a romantic relationship. It would be chaotic.

I found it hilarious when they hug, since that usually makes the men turn away and blush. XD
I can honestly see a possibility between Norma and Grune, but for some reason, Norma doesn't seem like a lesbian to me, or even bisexual for that matter.

Norma definitely gives me a bi feel. She was physically attracted Walter and seems to have had romantic feelings for Sven, but also shows interest in Grune over the course of the game.
And Grune? She loves EVERYONE (much like Ion from Tales of the Abyss).
Forgot to mention that I dislike Jay x Shirley and Chloe x Shirley.
I dislike Jay x Shirley because of how forced their interaction felt in Jay's CQ. The game's writers tried to portray Shirley as Jay's good natured friend in the scene after the Oresoron rescued them from Solon, but she really came across as a hypocritical snob. She had the gall to tell Jay that he had a weak heart when she herself is incredibly weak willed and selfish. After all, she was going to wipe out an entire race of people because Senel rejected her for Stella. Personally, I would have rather seen another one of the characters (such as Senel or Moses) giving him a pep talk, not Shirley. Jay was also the only member of the party who wanted to kill Shirley when she was the Merines without a second thought, making their sudden transition to friends in his CQ all the more awkward. Furthermore, they do not have anything in common and I doubt their personalities would mesh well together. Shirley is also not capable of loving any man other than Senel. As for Jay, he (along with all the other males in the party) is physically attracted to Grune, but apart from that, he does not show serious romantic interest in any females (whether they be in the party or not). It seems to me that the only character he is really into is Moses due to how much he teases and argues with him. The attention he gives Moses is no different than the type a fifth grader gives to someone he or she has a crush on.
As for Chloe x Shirley, their rivalry for Senel's affections was poorly written. It was not the least bit entertaining and the ways in which they competed for his affections were as dull as dish water. They did not even fight. I also do not buy the friendship they formed at the end of Chloe's CQ. To me, it seems as though they only became friends as a way of keeping an eye on each other in regard to Senel.
