Soon after my battle with Arietta on the roof of Choral Castle, Luke began fighting on his own when a battle was begun. I was wondering if there was a way to turn this off and how to do it. Thanks in advance!

You probably have him set to auto, which you change by going to the arte menu and pressing select (if I recall correctly). You can choose between auto, semi-auto and manual modes. You can also change the mode in battle using select with the menu up. (I think that's right, I play so many Tales games I get it mixed up sometimes, though.)

Did you somehow accidentally change the battle mode for Luke as "Auto"?? Like, when you open the arte menu, you just accidentally press "select" button somehow? Go to the Luke's "Arte" menu and and look at the top-right hand corner (iirc). If the mode is set to "Auto", change it to "Manual" or "Semi-Auto" up to you (press select button to change) and it should work out well . . . >_<"

EDIT: You beat me, Venus Rose . . . >.>"
