Okay, here's what we know ...

- The story begins two years after Symphonia ends. The world is in disarray thanks to the climatological difficulties and power struggles that followed the merging of the two worlds.
- The main characters are Emil Castagnier and Marta Lualdi. Richter Abend is also confirmed to be playable, though whether or not he is a permanent character is unknown.
- All Symphonia characters will return. Colette, Genis, Raine, Sheena, Zelos, Presea, and Regal are all confirmed to be playable during at least some parts of the game. Lloyd has not been seen in battle. Kratos will reprise his role as the narrator but will likely not be playable.
- The battle system is FR:EE-LMBS.
- Players can capture, raise, and fight alongside hundreds of unique monsters. They can be evolved through cooking.
- Some key staff from the original Symphonia are working on the game, but it is not a Team Symphonia production.
- The character designer is one of Namco's in-house designers. He has worked with Fujishima before, so his designs are meant to blend seamlessly with those of the original characters.
- The game is for the Wii.
- For images and general updates, please check the Japanese website on Tales Channel.

NA Release Date - Early winter 2008

What the HELL. TOS 2 deserved to be made into a proper Tales game, not a random attempt at creativity.

The map looks like you can just click on a place and go there instantly without walking. Lame. The new world map looks beautiful. I wanna explore on foot!

I don't see how people could've been expecting it to be a main entry. It's got a subtitle and it takes place just two years after all the immediate problems of Aselia were resolved. I'm thinking this'll be more in the vein of Summoner's Lineage in terms of how it functions. It'll be a side story with lots of ties to the original and the ability to wander around the Aselian universe to explore and fight, etc. There's nothing wrong with that, in my opinion.

I completely agree. I don't want anymore spinoffs

Um, actually, ToS: Ratatosk doesn't deserve to be anything more than a spinoff because it is a spinoff. There's not much left to be done during the time period in question. There's no major threat, and there's not likely to be enough material to make a non-sidestory title. We already know that the next major event in the Aselian universe isn't for thousands of years. If they wanted to explore a different major event, that'd be a different story. But as for this game, it's fitting that it should be more like Summoner's Lineage.

Boy, aren't we pessimistic around here???

I would look at it as a chance to explore more of a world I've come to love, if I were you. Smile Be glad you're getting a sequel -- poor Eternia...

Don't dismiss it yet. It's only just been announced -- a lot can change before next year.

That's exactly why I lost all my interest in ToS:KoR

Actually, I never really wanted a ToS sequel. Confused

- Is not being designed as a main entry
- Creative Developer is from Soul Calibur, neither Team Symphonia or Team MelFes are confirmed to be the actual ones working on this.
- Character Designer is not Kosuke Fujishima
- The main characters are Emil and Marta. Characters from Symphonia are supposedly only NPCs

-So it's a sequel but not a "true" one, basically it's Symphonia's answer to Dirge of Cerberus, if that's the case then there's no need for a 2 to ever be placed on the title.

-I thought part of the Soul Calibur team did work for Team MelFes?

-I don't mind that, considering I didn't mind Legendia's character art.

-Wasn't it said somewhere that the original cast would be playable?

I don't understand how you can lose all interest if you never had any in the first place ...

Well, it doesn't look bad and I'm going to at least expect it'll be fun as a spinoff, so I'm still interested. I just think Namdai needs to just stick with main games more than they do spinoffs, remakes, and ports. As of now, I'm more interested in ToI... if only it was on the Wii though. >_< I don't like the DS that much...

It is, but it's a spinoff. It's not as major as ToD2 is to ToD.

Anyways, here's a speculation: Borrowing monsters from Abyss. Gosh, no more...please. They have the dumbest AI ever.

I never wished for a ToS sequel, but when ToS:KoR was announced, I became somewhat interested. And then, after knowing that it's just a spinoff, I lost all my interest in the game.

And I'm tired of fighting the same monsters over and over.
