Tales of Phantasia Drama CD novelization

I'm back from the dead!

Anyways, that's my plan. Tales of Phantasia really needs more love, and seeing the novelization that Winged Dancer did for Tales of Symphonia's "Rodeo Ride Tour", I've decided a bigger project. And as with Winged Dancer's, not a script, a full NOVELIZATION.

But...alas, there is one fatal flaw in my plan. I don't know Japanese. >.< I get the gist of what everyone's saying, but when they have their monologues...forget it.

So...I was wondering if anyone could partner up with me on this little project of mine, I'm planning on posting it both FF.net and here on the forums (since I know some people don't like to set foot in that dangerous territory of OOCness and Mary-Sues) Their name will be posted at the beginning of every chapter, as this project could not be done without them.

Here is the list, in order of importance:

Tales of Phantasia Anthology First Volume- 3 tracks (Nancy and Elwin sidequest, Klarth's past, as well as a humor track with Chester and Arche)

Tales of Phantasia Chapter 1: Valhalla War- 12 tracks plus Suzu's Ninja Diaries 1 and 2 (Covers the Valhalla war as well as a bit of the beginning in Cless' flashbacks)

Tales of Phantasia Chapter 2: Alvein Style Final Secret Move- 10 tracks plues Suzu's Ninja Diaries 3 and 4 (Aftermath of Valhalla War up to where they meet Harrison to go into the future)

Tales of Phantasia Chapter 3: Great Harvest- 10 tracks (Future to all the way to when they finally defeat Dhaos)

Tales of Phantasia Anthology Second Volume: Rainy Day Blue- 11 tracks (A compilation of many events, touches on Chester and Ami, Arche and her mother, as well as Suzu's training before she met the party. I believe that the trip to Heimdall both times is told in Arche's POV...I'm not entirely sure.)

Tales of Phantasia Chara Talk CD ~Panic World~- 18 tracks (Each track is not more than 5 minutes...but! Humor in every single track...lots of Klarth bashing as well as two very funny "Married Couple" tracks, one with Cless and Mint, the other with Chester and Arche.)

All I require is the direct script. I can listen to the tracks while I'm writing for sound effects/emotion/background stuff etc.

Now, I understand that this is a HUGE project and many of you are busy/have better things to do with your time. But I would really appreciate it. So let me know if your interested and for details on the tracks, PM me.

As I said before, there needs to be more love for Phantasia, after all, it was the game that started it all!

Nice! I'm not too proficient in the Japanese language also, but if I knew it, helping you would be my first priority. Since Tales of Phantasia is one of my favourite Tales of games. I hope you do well in this project in the future!

Sounds like a great project. Working on the Phantasia Drama CDs is one of those projects that has been in the back of my mind for a while. I was hoping to look around for the CDs themselves when I got to Japan in a month. I did at one point see a listing for a book on Amazon Japan that seemed to be a novelization of the Drama CDs. It was called Tales of Phantasia Drama CD Scenario Works or something like that. I was planning on tracking that down and using it to help me translate the CDs. But up until now, I really haven't started on any of this yet or even really mentioned it anywhere.

Of course, none of this has anything to do with my original reason for posting which is to say "Good luck!" I wish I could help, but I'm wrapped up in other projects at the moment and the Drama CD project has really always been one I wanted to work on at my own pace. So down the road, even if you get things cranking, I'll likely still end up working on the project just for fun. Still, I'll gladly follow your project. Tales of Phantasia is undoubtedly my favorite of the Tales series, and of the non-game canon material that I've had the pleasure of reading/experiencing, I've definitely enjoyed it.

I don't understand what it is phantasiagirl is talking about. Are you just selling the drama CDs in the US or Europe or are you trying to make an English dub of it?

Yup, a novelization/fanfic version (though it's not really truly a fanfiction). I just desperately need a translator... D:

Don't be afraid to bump this, people! I don't feel like double-posting and I need more people to see this! If this project goes well, I plan on doing some Destiny and/or Eternia ones later.

A novelization of drama cds is awesome. But I think a script would also be nice so that people can follow along with the CD and hear the goodness (or badness, it happens) of the voices.

A novelization contains all the script plus descriptions that can make the understanding better so technically a novelization is better than a simple script.
