Here is a list of every AD Skill available in the game and how you obtain them. AD Skills are basically extra skills all of the characters can learn to make battling easier. AD Skills are obtained in two ways, either by reaching a certain level or by getting bonuses through Capacity Cores.
If you want to know how many bonuses of each stat you need to get ALL of the AD Skills, here it is...
P. ATK - 200
P. DEF - 70
F. ATK - 70
F. DEF - 60
AGL - 90
ENH - 90
Now here is the list for each individual AD Skill...
AD Skill name
Required level/bonuses
AD Skill effect
Backstep
(Level 2)
Use "Square+Backward" to backstep.
Recover
(Level 3)
Prevent being knocked down with Square when knocked away by an enemy.
Critical Guard
(Level 4)
"Square+Foward" reduces the damage from enemy physical attacks.
Magic Guard
(Level 7)
"Square+Down" reduces the effect of enemy magical attacks.
Free Run
(Level 5)
Hold the L2 button to move around freely with the Left Analog Stick.
Over Limit
(Level 15)
Go into Over Limit with R2 when the gauge is full.
Taunt
(Level 22)
When the gauge is not full, use R2 to increase Over Limit by a fixed amount.
Special
(Level 30)
When in Over Limit, hold X afer using an arcane arte or use a high fonic arte to cast a mystic arte.
Combo Force
(P.ATK+30)
Mitigates damage from a basic combo attack.
Power Charge
(P.ATK+40)
Hold Down while taking no action to temporarily increase P.ATK.
Critical Up
(P.ATK+50)
Increases chance of inflicting Critical Damage.
Heavy Hit
(P.ATK+60)
Increases chance to stun an enemy with a physical attack.
Add Combo
(P.ATK+70)
X links 4 basic attacks.
Add Combo 2
(P.Attack+120, Agility+20)
X links 5 basic attacks.
Add Combo 3
(P.ATK+160, AGL+40)
X links 6 basic attacks.
Add Combo 4
(P.ATK+200, AGL+60)
X links 7 basic attacks.
Roll
(P.DEF+20)
Decreases incidental damage taken when knocked down to the ground.
Guard Plus
(P.DEF+30)
Decreases damage taken while guarding.
Rear Guard 1
(P.DEF+40)
Reduces the chance of an enemy causing Guard Break.
Void Attack
(P.DEF+50)
Occasionally will not stagger when receiving a physical attack.
Immunity
(P.DEF+60)
Decreases the chance of receiving a status effect.
Endure
(P.DEF+70)
Decreases amount of time needed to recover from a stagger hit.
Critical Magic
(F.ATK+20)
Inflict Critical Damage when casting a spell attack.
Only for Tear, Jade, and Anise.
Lucky End
(F.ATK+30)
Decreases the amount of time of being unable to move after casting a spell.
Only for Tear, Jade, Anise, and Natalia.
Heavy Magic
(F.ATK+40)
Increase chance to stun the enemy with a spell attack.
Only for Tear, Jade, and Anise.
Lucky Magic
(F.ATK+50)
Occasionally decreases the amount of TP consumption when casting a spell.
Only for Tear, Jade, Anise, and Natalia.
Speed Cast
(F.ATK+60)
Decreases spell casting time.
Only for Tear, Jade, Anise, and Natalia.
Magic Charge
(F.ATK+70)
Hold Down while taking no action to temporarily increase F.Attack.
Only for Tear, Jade, and Anise.
Void Magic
(F.DEF+20)
Occasionally will not stagger when receiving a spell attack.
Resist
(F.DEF+30)
Occasionally prevents status effects.
Anti Element
(F.DEF+40)
Occasionally decreases damage from an elemental attack by half.
Magic Guard Plus
(F.DEF+50)
Reduces damage received while using Magic Guard.
Stat Boost
(F.DEF+60)
Increases the effect of magical status boosts.
Life Up
(ENH+20)
Occasionally increases Max HP after battle.
Spirit Healer
(ENH+30)
Increases amount of TP recovered after a battle.
Happiness
(ENH+40)
Occasionally increases EXP after battle.
Life Healer
(ENH+50)
Recover HP after a battle.
Mind Up
(ENH+60)
Occasionally increases Max TP after battle.
HP Recovery
(ENH+70)
Increases effectiveness of HP recovery.
TP Recovery
(ENH+80)
Increases efectiveness of TP recovery.
EXP Plus
(ENH+90)
Increases EXP gained after battle.
Dash
(AGL+20)
Increases mobility during battle.
Run Away!
(AGL+30)
Reduces the time needed to escape. Doubling up with other characters increases effectiveness.
Comeback
(AGL+40)
Tap Square repeatedly to shorten the stagger period.
Item Pro
(AGL+50)
Decreases the amount of time character is unable to move after using items.
O.I. Boost
(AGL+60)
Increases the duration of Over Limit.
Landing
(AGL+70)
Decreases the amount of time character is unable to move after landing.
Quick Turn
(AGL+80)
Able to turn around instantly even when dashing.
Aerial Jump
(AGL+90)
Jump in midair.
Rebound
(P.ATK+20, AGL+20)
Able to attack during the effects of Recover.
Jump Combo
(P.ATK+30, AGL+30)
Hit X to link attacks after landing from a jump attack.
C. Combo
(P.ATK+40, P.DEF+40, AGL+20)
Able to link combo attacks to Counter.
C. Counter
(P.ATK+40, AGL+40)
Damage increases when attack hits an attacking enemy.
Counter
(P.ATK+30, P.DEF+30)
Hit X as soon as the character guards to attack without any lag time.
E. Plus
(P.ATK+20, F.ATK+20)
Occsdionslly increases damage of elemental attacks.
Flash
(P.ATK+30, P.DEF+30, F.DEF+30)
Imprevious to stagger when hit between special combo attacks.
Step Away
(P.DEF+20, AGL+20)
Avoid staggering if hit during backstep.
Neutralizer
(P.DEF+30, AGL+30)
Occasionally nullifies a physical attack.
Resurrect
(P.DEF+50, F.DEF+50)
Occasionally revive automatically.
Reflect
(P.DEF+40, F.DEF+40)
Occasionally reflects damage from an attack while guarding.
Nullify
(P.DEF+30, F.DEF+30)
Occasionally nullifies a spell attack.
Lucky Soul
(P.DEF+20, F.DEF+20)
Occasionally recover TP when knocked to the ground.
Blood Spirit
(P.DEF+45, F.DEF+45)
Recover TP for the amount of hits received when attacked with a combo.
Skill Guard
(P.DEF+25, F.DEF+25)
Hit "Square+Down" to use Guardian.
Only for Luke, Guy, and Anise.
Rebirth
(P.DEF+30, F.DEF+30, ENH+30)
Gradually recover HP equal to half of the last damage received.
Angel's Tear
(P.DEF+60, F.DEF+60, ENH+50)
Revive automatically once per battle.
Glory
(P.DEF+60, F.DEF+60, AGL+50, ENH+60)
Avoid staggering from all attacks.
Reprise
(F.ATK+20, F.DEF+20, AGL+40)
Reduce casting time when a spell is used twice in a row.
Only for Tear, Jade, Anise, and Natalia.
Spell Save
(P.DEF+30, F.ATK+30, F.DEF+30)
Decreases casting time of the same spell if the spell is interrupted by an enemy.
Only for Tear, Jade, Anise, and Natalia.
Reducer
(F.ATK+30, F.DEF+30)
Decreases TP consumption when a spell is used twice in a row.
Only for Tear, Jade, Anise, and Natalia.
Rhythm
(F.ATK+20, F.DEF+20, AGL+20)
Tap X repeatedly while casting spells to decrease casting time.
Only for Tear, Jade, Anise, and Natalia.
Dash Guard
(F.DEF+40, AGL+40)
Avoid staggering when hit with magic while dashing.
Item Master
(AGL+30, ENH+30)
Increase the effectiveness of items used during a battle.
Pow Hammer
(P.ATK+40, P.DEF+40)
Occasionally counter with Pow Hammer attacked.
Auto Aid
(P.DEF+60, F.DEF+60)
Occasionally cast First Aid automatically when damaged.
Ability Plus
(P.ATK+80, AGL+80)
Follow a base arte with a second base arte once per combo.
Item Getter
(AGL+40, ENH+40)
Increases the chance of acquiring items. Doubling up with other characters increases effectiveness.
Item Rover
(P.ATK+20, AGL+40)
Increases chance of stealing an item.
Status Guard
(P.DEF+40, F.DEF+40)
Reduces the effect of magical ailments.
Resilience
(P.DEF+60, F.DEF+60, AGL+40)
Avoid staggering while casting a spell.
Only for Tear, Jade, Anise, and Natalia.
Super Chain
(P.ATK+60, AGL+60)
Able to link arcane and base artes.
Rear Guard 2
(P.DEF+60, AGL+50)
Prevents Guard Break.
Condition Guard
(P.DEF+30, F.DEF+30)
Reduces the effects of physical ailments. (Poison, Weak).
Back Action
(P.ATK+25, P.DEF+25, ENH+10)
Able to take action immediately after Backstep.
Item Thrower
(P.ATK+40)
Able to use items on an ally.
Long Step
(P.DEF+20, AGL+20)
Increases the stepping distance of Backstep.
Magic End
(F.ATK+30, AGL+30)
Able to move immediately after casting a spell.
Only for Tear, Jade, Anise, and Natalia. _________________

This is GREAT Tamad! I think someone should sticky this so that people don't keep asking about when they'll get certain AD Skills and so that this doesn't get lost in the bunches of threads... _________________

Great guide Tamad, I wish I'd had this 2 weeks ago when I found out the AD skill guide I was using was wrong on Resilience.

It'll just go into the Article Database whenever it's made (hopefully along with my Din's shop guide which should be done tomorrow or saturday, and Ryuuko's skill guide which is already on page 2 or 3). _________________

Hmm...do you think it would be a good idea to add the "Max stats for each stats for ALL AD Skills". I've got a couple questions about several of the AD skills, and I apologize if either of these have been asked already. If any of you have any insight on either of these, I'd really appreciate your help.
First off, I have both Ability Plus and Super Chain with Guy. I am able to do a combo with something like 3 normal swings->crescent moon strike (base)->tiger blade (base)->soaring light spear (arcane) since Ability Plus lets me chain two base artes together and I can follow a base arte with an arcane arte by default. Is it possible to do something like 3 normal swings->crescent moon strike (base)->tiger blade (base)->soaring light spear (arcane)->crescent moon strike (base) since I have Super Chain? I've been trying, and I don't think it is, but I could just be screwing up the timing on the last one. Or maybe you can't have the same arte in a combo more than once... I hadn't thought of that til just now. Also, if this is actually possible and I'm just screwing up the timing, is there anything to stop me from just going on and on forever, stringing base to arcane to base to...?
Second, I have Rhythm with Jade. Whenever he starts casting, I get the X button thing that pops up by his stats at the bottom of the screen. My question is this: am I supposed to jam X as fast as I can, or is there some... rhythm, as the name implies, that I should be following? Or is there some other possibility I'm just not thinking of? I can't really tell that it's doing much of anything... it still takes forever to conjure up a Lightning Blade to 'run mine enemies through'. I also have Speed Cast with him, so I wonder if the two are interfering with one another. |

You can't chain 4 artes. The max is 3 technically. But however, you can chain them in any order you desire. BUT, that doesn't mean you can chain 2 arcane artes.

Read the AD Skill description and it should tell you to tap X rapidly. Each tap decreases the time by only a BIT! So unless you want to mash your X button until it breaks or use an auto-control, you may not even see a difference. XD _________________ Support XSEED | Listen to Falcom music | Do life the right way

I figured as much... it would be kind of unfair to my hapless victims if I could do much more than what I'm already doing to them. They just have so much HP on unknown mode that I thought it would be neat to keep a longer combo going, if it were possible.

Yeah, the description says 'tap', but there are different ways to tap after all... *cough* Anyway, I figured it probably meant to jam as fast as possible, but it's kind of disappointing that it doesn't reduce the cast time any more than what it's already doing. |

Each time you press the button it reduces the casting time by 1/60th of a second. So to really see a difference you have to press really fast, but I suppose sometimes even half a second can make a difference if you don't have resilience. The reason I like Rhythm is because it simply gives you something to do while casting a spell. _________________
