Melnics is FUN to learn-- if you know a bit of japanese katakana knowledge that is...


Anyways-- here's how to read Melnics, and YES, ALL the melnics dialogues in the game are in english. (And it's GOOD english too.=D not engrish! Hahaha!)
Things might get a bit confusing since I really don't know how to explain things for non-japanese/katakana readers. So sorry...>.< This is already my 5th try to teach melnics and this time, it's MORE complete with less explanations.=p *evil*

Then-- this is how you read most of the alphabets.=D
(Please, don't ask me how to exactly read them...-_-;


If you enter the Library in Mintche, there's a book there that explains a bit about a few melnics. Mainly Yes and NO.

Y - YA
E - N
S - S
So it's read as YANSU

NO
N - MU
O - I
It's read as MUI

About the #1, I noticed that Relares' #1 is also read as WHIS.=D Hahaha! Oh yeah, remember the card game in Eternia? It's name is WHIS, right? And what does the game resemble?>D An elemental UNO, right?>D Hahaha!XDXDXD

At the starts of the game, Meredy greets you 'ANRURUI' or rather 'ANRURI'
H - A

O - I
It's pronounced ANRURI because RU and I is combined to sound RI. More on combination letters on the next more complete guide on how to read melnics--

Names are different when it comes to Melnics/NALVOKS.
i.e. Meredy's Melnics/NALVOKS name is NALR, but in the english version of Eternia they didn't follow this rule.=<



The blue ones are just the main alphabets. And there's no 'WO'.=p
This guide shows you how to speak certain letter combination-- or how to turn your names into Melnics/NALVOKS.=D Yay!

If you speak Meredy's name in a somewhat japanese kind of way-- you'll get--
MU-E-RU-DI-- Look for this in the katakana's, and you'll make up NALR.=D

Melnics is MU-E-RU-NU-I-KU-SU which makes makes it NALVOKS.

Meredy's usual line's in the game are WAIIRU (if she's happy) and BAIBA (if she's surprised), cause WAIIRU simply means 'Cool' and BAIBA is 'Wow!'.^^;;
I think... in the english Eternia they made WAIIRU into 'Hweel'-- which always pisses me off when we're playing WHIS or when Meredy says it...>p

There's no explanation though about Celestia and Inferia being called--
Celestia - HERE
Inferia - FAR
In the game, if you read Meredy's melnics dialogue, you can see her say that she's a 'HEREIAN' while Rid and Farah are 'FARIAN's

Meredy's intro in the game is like this...

ANRURI! TUYA MUETUN USU MUERUDI!
(Hello! My name is NALR/Meredy!)
Though she's really hard to understand because she slangs how she says it.-_-;; It's really difficult to translate it if you're just listening to her speak melnics.x_X That's why everytime I try to listen to the Eternia Drama CD's my head aches...x_X

You can also get a good chart of the letters on the Tales of Innocence Voice Adventure DVD -- then you can figure out exactly what each letter looks like when turned, since some of them aren't immediately obvious.
