I love the movie of "tales" series.
But I watched the new trailer of FF7 Advent children
in the official site a little while ago.
That is also great.
Of couse,it depends on the works.
But I still prefer 2D.
How about you?

Do you think you would have had to play and beat FF7 to fully understand Advent Children? cuz I never really got around to finishing it....

I think both styles have their merits. With traditional cartoon animation, it flows more smoothly and looks more personal than computer generated animation. The CG style has the advantages of looking new and sharp. It's especially good when doing things set in the future with starships or robots.

I think it really depends on the studio and what they're making. The characters in Pixar movies are as endearing as any other hand-drawn animation. With motion-capture, computer animation now flows a lot smoother and much cleaner than traditional hand-drawn animation. Computers gives animators a lot of freedom, especially in camera movement and panning. But I think hand-drawn animation also has a certain texture that makes it really unique. Like the short in Kill Bill or Kid's Story in the Animatrix, that sketchy, roughness is a unique quality to hand-drawn animation.

I think 2D looks better (in games), but if you actually have need to make the game 3D for gameplay purposes, I don't mind 3D. Especially cell-shading.

...actually it CAN play movies. I believe that was already confirmed by Nintendo. It will be released on cartridges though (obviously)... which will be a little odd.

I think it does... it's a movie about the events after the game. It probably has a lot to do with the game, I mean--Sephiroth is in it, and they showed Cloud dropping Aeris into the water (*sniff*)... but although a lot (and I mean, A LOT) of people have played FFVII, I don't think they should expect everyone to know the story to watch the movie. So they'll probably put an introduction explaining everything. We can only hope...

The GBA plays movies. I'm not sure how long and big a movie, though. (I think it's playing some Pokémon episodes...)

Cell-shading is 3D. It just doesn't use polygons, so it gives it a cartoon, hand-drawn look, but it's not.

I like things hand-drawn (more detail), but CG is so preeetttyyy! ^.^

Uh, 3D requires polygons. Cel-shading stimulates the look of 2D cartoons by playing down textures, lighting and blending so colors look flat and sharp.

I think the GBA Video cartirdges can so far play 1 hour long...two episodes of each show. If I remember right, I think Nintendo says that as they work on the technology they can play longer movies, as well. (Hmm...if they had LOTR for GBA Video...I'd never be board on a trip again. ^_________^ Although I doubt they'll go THAT long)
