"Y-you're here!" Arene gasped, nearly dropping the bundle she'd been carrying. "I-I didn't think...well, I..." she shrugged. "I wanted you to come, but I had this sinking feeling all night that you wouldn't. But, you're here, and--uh--thank you." She couldn't read his facial expression in the dim light.

She ventured: "Well, about my grandfather. I'd really like to meet him, but I...I don't know my way around, you know, since I've never left Simrock at all...and... And if you know where the elves live...maybe if you're headed that way, you could...take me along with you?"

"Arene," Endymion said softly, "it seems as if our quests are inextricably entwined, for I, too, seek what you seek. My ancestry is as much a mystery as yours. I sought to become a sage in order to research the annals of elven history, but my access to the information that I needed was limited. Instead of allowing me the freedom to investigate as I pleased, the high priest of Galmia sent me to distant lands to uncover relics of Martel to glorify his shrine."

Again, Endymion looked into the girl's eyes and saw clearly her determination. "Let us work together," he said smiling. "I'm certain that if we combine our efforts, we'll be able to uncover our secret origins. First, we should cross the Crimson Road and venture through the capitol city, Kaline. If we follow the Path of the Pilgrims from there, we should reach the Shrine of the Gods, a grand structure rumored to have one of the largest libraries in Sylvarant. Now, I am prepared to abandon my duties as a Galmian sage. Are you prepared to leave your family?"

(OOC: I leave for school and this RPG's advanced to the next page already. Wow. Oh and KratosXG9, you're only supposed to control the action of your own character. You can't make another character do something)

Solstice abruptly ran to Ayden's side, seeing that he was in dire pain. "Did that lizard's venom get to you? He looked at the man's arm where the pain appeared to be coming from, but found no sign of the puncture marks left by Wraith Lizards.

"Just... remain calm. You'll pull through," Solstice reassured him.

(OOC: Sorry Lord Fawkes. This is my first time joining an RP thingy. Oh and if you're confused about my plight then read my bio.)

~Sindro City~

"Aaaaaahhhhh!!" Ayden screamed loudly, hands gripping his head fiercely. He was losing the battle for control of his body. Second after second, the demon gained more power over his dimming spirit. His hair began to fade its bright brown color to a cold dull white. His eyes darted and took on a crimson red.

He swiped at Solstice and with his last amount of energy he tried to warn Solstice of the present danger,"Run Solstice! Please...aah...h..hurry! PLEASE YOU MUST RUN!! AAAAHH!!" Suddenly, his screams became a wicked laughter.

"HAHAHAHA! Ah, Ayden you let your guard down." the demon man chuckled. He turned quickly to Solstice, allowing his even more grotesque arm to become visible. "You should have run away! Maybe then you would have more time to live! I've been starving for so long...and now I'll satisfy my hunger with you..."

Max was awoken by the shout of Endymion. This surprised him to the poiint where he lost balkance and fell on the floor. There he noticed a young girl laughing at his misfortune, actually, it seemed more like a compassionate laughter. Max got up, embarrassed to have showned his clumsy side to everyone. And asked what the girl was doing here. Arene's story made Max want to help her out. Something about her remembered him of Celest. When he met her, she has never left her hometown. After Kornan slaughtered her parents in front of her very eyes disguised as an angel, healers witdrew themselves away from men, treating them like plague. Celest was innocent and a bit naive, and Arene gave him a similar feeling. He then looked upon Endymion, this fair man seemed to be the type of man who would put his all into helping others, a feeling he could well understand. Surely he would enjoy such company. Of course, he couldn't be too much of a burden, if his presence brought danger the the group, he will simply leave. With this in mind, he made preparationss for a long journey.

Solstice jumped back a few meters then drew his double swords.

"If you truly are a powerful demon, only utter defeat can silence you," Solstice said. He put the sword hilts together. The ends of the hilts interlocked and Solstice quickly pulled them apart, revealing a hidden center handle within the sword's handles. Now carrying a double lance, Solstice stood ready to defend himself. "I don't want to kill you, Ayden, so I'll try to make this as quick as possible."

"Let's see what you can do."he replied the swordsman. The demon lifted his monstrous arm as if to grab something amist the air. "Apochalypse, come to me!" The enormous sword swirved and slowly began to levitate. It floated to his hand and as it made contact with his fingers it was enveloped in a dark aura. A surge of dark energy ran throughout his arm and the sword as they met.

"Then let us begin foolish mortal!"

(OOC: Now I'm not too sure how to describe these battles. Do I call out an attack or what?)

"In you I sense incredible energy," Solstice remarked, watching Ayden's black aura grow. Still a distance away, Solstice ran towards him with the speed of a cheetah. As he closed, he shouted, "Polarize!" A blast of energy shot from the handles and reached the tips of his swords. On one, a blazing plume of flame replaced the blade. On the other a sharp blue ice edge took the place of his sword. I can't use my Imazuma no Ken since he'll counter easily. Something more precise... Solstice thought to himself.

"Sora no Ken!" Solstice yelled, swinging the flame end of this double lance and creating a draft of air that smashed into Ayden. Knowing that it would do no damage, Solstice leaped up and took advantage of this position to come down with, "Rising Falcon!" Solstice dived down and slammed into Ayden with his ice blade pointed forward.

Arene lifted up the pack she'd nearly dropped earlier and blushed sheepishly. "Uhh, actually, I got a little over-zealous today and packed. My parents don't know that I left...I think it's better that way, though." She frowned mournfully. "In fact, they have no clue. I did give them a hug, a kiss, and an 'I love you' before I turned in for bed. Usually I just wave goodnight, so they gave me strange looks." She smiled at the memory before regaining composure.

"Well, I also wrote a letter of explanation for when they wake up in the morning. And I brought things that might turn out useful." She opened the bundle and showed them her weapons, items, and cooking supplies Razz

. "I promise to try and help as much as I can. But thank you for letting me come along." She bowed gratefully.

(OOC: Erm... OK, so where does Drake come in? *waits patiently*)

Demon Ayden fell to the ground. He quickly regained his postion and called out,"Is that all you've got, swordsman? Here, witness real power!" He swung his Apochalypse causing a larger wave of dark energy to slam into Solstice. He then leaped into the air crying "Flying Windmill" and began to spin rapidly horizontally. His sword's spinning velocity created a purple tornado that bashed into Solstice...

"You needn't thank me, Arene," murmured Endymion. "I've done nothing but provide you with the opportunity to escape alongside an ally. It is your own courage which has led you here tonight. Now, let us make haste before the day breaks. I have just one thing to do before we leave."

Endymion moved swiftly toward a golden-leafed tree as Arene followed behind him with an airy step. As he approached the gilded boughs, he saw perched among the branches the strangely-clad man that he had met earlier. Endymion called out to rouse him from his slumber.

(OOC: Insert Hero_Of_Courage's last post here.)

The newly-formed troupe of three dashed toward the northwestern gates of Simrock City to make their grand escape from entrapment and begin their quest for knowledge.

(OOC: Now, just before we leave Simrock, we should allow Drake to catch us and join!)

(OOC: Arashi no Ken and Imazuma no Ken are the same move. I was going off my rough copy of my bio in the last post)

"Man, this guy's strong," Solstice said. "Echo!" Trapped inside the vortex, he spun his double lance in the opposite direction of the winds and produced a temporary barrier long enough for him to roll out. He had cuts all over his hands from the sharp rocks thrown into the air by the tornado. "Ack."

~~~~~Flashback (5 years ago)~~~~~~~~

"Arashi no Ken!" Solstice flashed through the field at his grandfather during one of their training sessions. His first blow landed but Zerces caught him off guard while he turned to aim for a second move.

"Horus's Wrath!" A gust of hurricane force winds descended upon Solstice.

"How...?" Solstice said shocked.

"Solstice, the secret of the Storm blade rests in your ability to recover from your own blow," Sir Zerces said to Solstice. "If you are able to stun the enemy, then you will have enough time."

"Arashi no ken!" Solstice exclaimed, sprinting foward as fast as a bolt of lightning. Immediately, he slashed Ayeden in the cursed arm twice as he passed by and landed on the other side. "Yuki no Ken!" Though he was not fully recovered, Solstice sent an energy wave from his sword intended to stun the nerves of the target. If that didn't work, I don't know what will.

"Ack!" Demon Ayden's arm was injured severely from Solstice's attack. "He's stronger than I supposed! Aah, what's this?" The cursed arm began to enlarge, soaking in the dark aura from his blade. Ayden was fighting for control again and this time was winning.

"NOOOO!" the evil cried in agony as the demonic features left Ayden's body. He was back to normal now. He fell to his knees and in exaustion, panted heavily. "Thank you friend. You have allowed me to gain control again. That is my quest...to rid my body of that parasite. This is why I must continue it alone." He rises facing Solstice. "I must leave this place before I endanger anyone else. Farewell Solstice, and thank you for your good deeds to my soul." He turns and begins to walk away...

"Wait up. Take this with you, Ayden," Solstice said. He took a silver charm engraved with an eight pointed star. "If we ever meet again, hopefully you'll be able to know that we are friends and not enemies. Farewell, Ayden."

~Sindro City (Inn)~

By the time Solstice had come back to the inn, it was around 10 in the morning. He had bandaged up his cuts but they still hurt if he moved too much. Coming in, Solstice saw Seth waiting for him.

"Seth! I never expected you to be here so fast," Solstice said. Aside from his own grandfather, Seth was one of the only friends that Solstice ever had. "I'm glad you came. The situation here has gotten a lot more interesting since I wrote to you."

~Sindro City~(Leaving)

Ayden accepts the gift from Solstice and replies,"Solstice..."he motions,"Thank you...friend." Ayden paces towards the east not knowing where it may lead. He traveled with even more strength now, for he had a friend. Solstice showed him that he can overcome the evil inside him and find peace for a time. Ayden thinks of this as he creeps into the dense forests outside of Sindro City.
