...Violating my childhood hero's latest TV series! =D
Yeah, Teletoon, a Canadian broadcaster finally acquired rights to air ShoPro's dub of the animé Rockman.EXE Axess (Mega Man NT Warrior Axess now...Man, big name...) so I could see it, and well, I'm not impressed...
The first two season' dubs were on the level of One Piece. I'm serious.
Okay, they renamed Fireman as Torchman, they renamed Colourman as friggin' WACKOMAN, and they TOTALLY screwed over the catch phrases.
In Japanese...In game...In dub... (Below will be a chart following that layout)
Plug in! Rockman.EXE, TRANSMISSION!...Megaman.EXE, JACK IN!...JACK IN! MEGA MAN POWER UP!!1lololololololololScrewYouShoPro.
Meiru...Mayl...Maylu. (Jeez, ShoPro, atleast pay attention to the goddamn English games...)
Netto, and his brother Saito (*Spoiler*Who is Rockman.EXE)...Lan, and his brother Hub (*Spoiler*Who is Mega Man.EXE).
Both jokes, net and site, lan and hub. Funny... >_> No major animé screw up, but oh well.
Battlechip, Cannon! Slot-In!...*Nothing in-game*...MegaBlaster battle chip in, download!
___
Some of you may notice how brutal the new names of these things are by dubbing standards...But they COULD be worse...
Okay, overall, MMNTWAxess is...Decent. Not crap like seasons 1 and 2, but not good.
They kept all the Japanese names for new gizmos so far. (Dimensional Area, Synchro Chips, Cross Fusion)
They changed Meijin's name to Mr. Famous, like in the games...No big deal, as it means "Master" or "Expert" in Japanese...
But the name changes didn't stop. They renamed Beastman, an animal/wolf-like navi into...SavageMan. What the hell? He's not even savage until he's affected with Dark Chips. And his game-name in English is Beastman too...Thanks for the continuity, ShoPro!
Speaking of Dark Chips, some names of things weren't revealed in episode one unlike in the Japanese version. Dark chips may be something like, "Evil computerized potato wafers" knowing ShoPro...And Shademan will be something like "Batman" or "Vampireman" >_> I don't even WANT to know what Soul Unison will be renamed as...
As for the opening theme, season 1 and 2's was crap. Some random techno thing repeating "Mega Man" over and over. Atleast the American cartoon theme was CATCHY unlike this crap they gave for the American-dubbed animé...
I missed the opening though. The ending I saw featured appropriate season's clips, but the audio was...Creepy. =/ Very wierd techno-y.
Speaking of audio, the soundtrack was also remade in the third season too! The 1st and 2nd seasons only had ONE good track in the dub. In Japanese, there were many. In Axess, the soundtrack fit perfectly. In the dub, it fits quite well, it's probably the best part about the dubbed season, but there was one REMIX of a Japanese theme that was total crap...Sheesh.
All in all, it's recieved a decent start-off in my opinion, compared to the first two seasons, but like with the first two, I don't have much hope for the dub developing into something good. _________________
