So I thought we could use a more general anime/manga discussion thread. This doesn't have to just be limited to saying I WATCHED THIS AND THIS IS WHAT I THOUGHT; feel free to shoot the **** here and muse about the medium in general.

So, for myself, I finished BTOOOM!'s first season today. It's a pretty rad show, although there are some weak parts (repetitive enemy speeches YOU CAN'T TRUST ANYBODY THEREFORE DIE and it seems like some of the best introductory moments of the show are followed immediately by pervy moments, which makes it a hard sell.)

It got me wondering about when the second season might get greenlight, which made me realize...We don't have a thread for the upcoming season, do we? What gives? I'm too out of the loop to dig one up myself. I get the impression that some of our biggest devotees got lost in the forum shuffle. =(

But yeah, shocker! I actually finished a show. Apart from that, I'm waiting for the remaining episodes of Jormungand, which is supposed to finish this week but the group I was following is a week behind. I've enjoyed that more than BTOOOM! on average, but the subbers' delay hit right after a cliffhanger so ugh.

I'm 2 season with a lot of anime stuck. :/

Chuu2biou, JoJo's, BTOOOM!, Ixion Saga DT, Kingdom, K, Code Breaker, Robotics;Notes...

I recently watched the Lost Christmas OVA of Guilty Crown, and I'm in a big Yu-Gi-Oh mood and want to rewatch it but ain't nobody get time for that.

Ugh...I don't think I can stomach more Guilty Crown. I enjoyed the first half of that series, but once the school lockdown happened it quickly became sickening.

Translation? You're two seasons behind and catching up, I guess?

I just finished Macross 7 (the TV series) today. I've still got the Movie, Encore and Dynamite 7 left to do.

I'd like to start on L-Gaim and Heroman soon.

Awesome.

Dynamite is pretty great too. it has most of the best fire bomber songs imo

It was a guilty not-really-pleasure-but-indulgence-into-awfully-thought-out-shounen sort of thing.

I finished Steins;Gate. It was pretty cool and the dub is really legit.
Gonna try and finish Trigun soon too.

Wanna start Robotics;Note as well.

I dunno how much you'll enjoy it without the nostalgia, but...

Watch the dub and don't be afraid to treat it as a sort of MST3K type thing. DBZ gets truly ridiculous and stupid at times and it's best to laugh it off instead of trying to brush it aside.

I've seen a couple episodes before and I know who a couple of the characters are. Like, if you said "who is trunks," I know that he's got purple-y gray hair and a sword. And some of them go super saiyan when they get mad or whatever. But that's really the extent of my knowledge.

How ridiculous does this get? Should I be intoxicated for this? Can I skip episodes, because I heard a joke once: "How long does it take for Goku to change a lightbulb? Two minutes, but it takes ten episodes."

I would advise just watching Kai instead and then selectively picking out the good filler from the first show like the driving episode. Kai takes out the filler and paces the show much better. If you watch Z, they will literally spend 5 or more episodes charging one attack. It's kind of funny in a so bad its hilarious way but I really can't see the show being enjoyable today watching it at that pace.

Also DBZ/Kai is only the second half of the manga, if you want to know the full story which they do reference a lot you'll want to start with plain Dragonball. Otherwise you just get dropped in halfway through the story.

Kai is just DBZ in HD(I believe) but with all the filler cut out. As far as I know the whole thing is dubbed.

Okay... I have never even heard of Kai.

Is this like a Full Metal Alchemist vs. Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood thing?

EDIT: nevermind, you answered my question. thanks yo
