Why am I coming out of my bi-monthly range of topics? Only because it's one of THE best, and one of THE most overlooked animés EVER! It's up top so people get a better chance to learn about this amazing series!

It's a fairly recent dubbing, started last summer, and so far 3 DVDs have been released (5 episodes per disc!) and a 4th was just released on the 8th (of February.)

I got the first disc with the box for the first season's DVDs and have ordered the second one at this point, and to quote a pedophilic fast food restaurant's commercial "i'm lovin' it!" (Yes I did just not capitalize an I. McDonalds is very illiterate, too!)

So, the story stars the Get Backers recovery service! "If it was stolen, get it back!" They get back anything, for anyone, at any time with a near 100% success rate! If something was loss, they can get it back. (To quote their intro of their group Razz)

The Get Backers consist of Ginji Amano (teh blonde one!) and Ban Midou (the brunette badass.)

Electric eels have cells for generating electricity when they're threatened, right? Humans have 'em too! And Ginji? Well he's got too many to count, so naturally he can use lighting attacks!

Ban Midou...Well, have you ever heard of a Jagon? The "Evil Eye" allows him to transmit a vision/nightmare into a person for a whole minute, while he and Ginji go about their business beatin' up the bad guys. Most of his nightmares are pretty...Graphic, too Razz (Guy literally gets shot to pieces, guys spontaneously combust and start screaming...Yep, graphic.)

It may sound unintersting, "So all these guys do is go and find stuff for people? Ho laym si taht foo'!?1/?!/!?!?" It's not. Something always goes wrong, and the matter is complicated completely, often in a hilarious fasion! (Heck, Ban's car gets towed away like 6 times in the first 3 episodes...)

And hey, after the first episode. You're hooked! Whether it be Ban and Ginji's fight over a slice of pizza, the "Laxative Pizza" plan, or Ban getting broke from paying a car-tow fee ("Dammit...I have no money! I'm frickin' BROKE, ALRIGHT!? "OKAY THEN! It all checks out, pay your fees at the post office by next Saturday so we don't have to arrest you!")
There's bound to be humour, and more things to get you watchin'.

It's not just humour, too! By the 3rd episode, there's already a clear evil-dude and lots of intense action and crazy fighting skills.

Sound good? It IS good.

That's my extremely basic review of this AMAZING animé (my favourite one to be exact!) so now you can discuss!

2 last points.

Dubbing: Done EXTREMELY well and true to the original version. Each DVD still features the subbed format, but I prefer the dub because the voices are so hip and hilarious XD

Subbing: The same script as the dub, really with decent voices... But hey, Ginji's voiced by Showtaro Morikubo, my favourite J-Rock artist and voice actor! Known well for doing Nara Shikamaru in Naruto, Orphen in Sorcerous Stabber Orphen (just Orphen, here!) and the Japanese version of Rave Master (Groove Adventure Rave)'s Musica!

Discuss! Ask questions, and I'll answer them! I suggest this animé to ANYONE who likes humour and intense action, in a modern time-setting.

I have a link to an excellent site, if your talking about downloading it, but that isn't appropriate for the forums, so PM if you need.

*cough* ANYWAYS, this is a very good anime. Good concept, though Ginji is a little...strange when it comes to Ban. Anyways Jubei is my favorite character *points to avatar*.

Just watched the 5th episode. It's an aswom anime. Thanks for showing me it, Taiyz. My favorite character so far is Ban. I'll watch episode 6,7, and 8 tomorrow.

If you mean the...Ban-Chan thing...It's just because the two are so close, Ginji treats Ban like family.

Personally, I'd suggest getting the DVDs of the series. But then again, I'm a major collector, so although I enjoy collecting DVDs of the series' I love, you might only watch the episodes once, and animé's pretty pricy... =/

Edit: I'm gonna set this forum as my haven away from Bi-Monthly topics, due to my Otaku-y nature and having nothing better to do. XD

Well, you'll see later Taiyz, but Ginji is really overly caring about Ban. Kinda like Kadsuki is to Jubei.

Dear god. You'd better not be bringing up homosexuality theories. XD X and Zero have enough of those, sure, but Ginji and Ban don't deserve that!

Well, Ginji's just like Ban's kid brother, you can easily tell that he's really immature and a kid at heart, so that would explain that. =P

But yeah, you make a good point. Ginji didn't do squat in episode 5 when:

[SPOILERTEXTNESS!!]Fighting with Kurodou, he doesn't do ANYTHING until Ban shows up to...Er, kindly let Ginji know that he "Looks like crap" and should actually start fighting well.[/SPOILERTEXTNESS!!"

^_^'
