After reading up on the game and watching several videos, I've become rather intrigued by Rebirth's battle system. Thus, I've created this topic to gather some much needed intel on the subject. Just a few semi-simple questions:

First, what's Rebirth's learning curve like? How would you compare it to Symphonia's learning curve?

Second, how do the battles feel? Are they quick and frentic, or are they more relaxed?

Third, does the exclusion of TP work alright? Is it too easy to spam techs and magic?

Fourth, how does moving from line to line work? Is it smooth or does it somewhat interrupt the gameplay?

Finally, how well does the AI make use of the M-LMB? Does your party generally work within their strategy parameters, or do certain characters wander around and get pinned between enemies? Are the enemies even clever enough to surround isolated characters? Is the system more often for or against you?

I would greatly appreciate any insight people who've imported this could give me. Thanks in advance~!

What do you mean by Learning Curve, if you mean something like the T/S system it's non-existant, the skills work like this you have your Waza that you equip in each of the 4 spots on each character, then you set the Ougi from a list to that Waza

As for TP, the entire thing with the Force Gauge is essential to the Story, there are 4 parts to the gauge, you equip a skill to each spot, the battles move somewhat slowly but it's intentinal because of the Force System; if the battles moved as fast as ToE or ToD2 then you'd be slaughtered fast...

The AI's are better than ToS' because this system works on an upgraded Destiny 2 engine(which had the best AI's in the series), the efficancy of our AI's really depends on the skills you equip, unlike other Tales games your AI characterd DON'T have access to all skills

As for moving from Line to Line, you really only have to worry about this in Manual because in Semi-Auto/Auto it does it for you, I don't use Manual so I kind of forget the method but I think it's pressing Up twice or Dwon twice

When I say learning curve, I simply mean how long it takes to get used to the controls, the way battles work, etc. It took me a while longer to get used to Symphonia's system because of how much freedom you're given.

Thank you for your input~

Oh, probably the first few battles. You'll be MUCH prepared before you even hit the second town!

1.) If you have played Eternia or Destiny, you'll get used to the feel of battle right away. Though, you cannot go all out like old Tales games or else you'll get pwned. It's quick to learn, though, even with the new tech system.

2.) They're pretty relaxed, no so fast that you don't know what's going on and not so slow that it is boring. It's really helluva fun to play as Tytree =P.

3.) They balanced it. If you spam attacks you'll get killed. Enemies counter easily unless surrounded. They also have that immune to knockback thing from Symphonia after you hit an enemy to a certain point. You have to guard or dodge after ever combo attack(a combo of regular attacks and one special move).

4.) Very, VERY smooth. You can move gracefully between the fields and attack enemies instantly.

5.) I have experianced trouble with AI. Half of the time they make wise decisions and half the time they get cornered and screwed. It's an okay AI, but not the greatest. Typical Tales AI, really...

If you're thinking about buying it, BUY IT. It's amazing =).

What I hate the most is wen those mole monsters attack ppl casting magic. They just pop all over the field by going underground.
