Spoilers for Tales of Symphonia:

It seems like a Tales on the Kharlan War would be seriously unbalanced unless they majorly retracted some of what was already said in Symphonia. I mean, how could you have a main character who's well-versed in magic, swordsmanship, and pact-making? Martel would probably be the only other useful one since she'd be able to heal. Kratos is just another magical swordsman with powers that most likely pale in comparison, and though I'm not sure what Yuan does, I don't think it could be much more spectacular.

Well, Mithos would probably change tech classes in the game. Or maybe he could be like Kratos was, but have even more basic sword skills. Kratos wouldn't have magic since he gets it from the Aionis. He's probably have better sword skills as a result. Martel would be the healer, of course. Yuan would have his Swallow weapon and be able to cast lightning magic of all kinds. He'd also have attacks such as Lightning Thrust, lightning Tiger, Thunder Explosion, and some others

Mithos: Either basic swordsman with magic and later summoning, or maybe he can change his class

Martel: Healer. maybe she could have some attacks too.

Kratos: Expert Swordsman

Yuan: Swallowsman with lightning techs

Anyway, if they made a game set in the Kharlan War... I think they should work on the angel flight a little. With every angel in ToS, their flight was merely for cosmetic purposes (and plot purposes). It never did them any good for fighting. But in a Kharlan War game, there would be at least two (probably four, maybe more) characters that fly a lot. There were characters on brooms in previous Tales games, so I'm sure they could work wings out to fly.

They always give the main chara of Tales a ridiculous abundance of skills, so I don't think making Mithos a mage/angel/swordsman/summoner would be a problem. There are some classical Tales skills that someone just has to have, but some of those could go to Kratos/Yuan. Let's see... give Mithos Demon Fang, Sword Rain, Beast, Phoenix... about as much magic as Kratos has, plus Photon group. Judgment once he gets his crystal. If they want to make him super-powered (hey, according to Gnome, he did at least a little work on his own) they could also give him Shuukihou, as well as Koukuusouhazen after he got the Eternal Sword. XD And a few random Dhaos skills. Summons would have some weird requirement like Over Limits, near death, Combo Guage-ish guage, etc.

Make Kratos about what he is in ToS, possibly excluding the magic. Yuan what he is in ToS, plus some more skills (maybe Tiger Blade and Tempest if Mithos doesn't have them, plus make the little lightning ball a skill, maybe angel spells). Martel about what Raine is plus angel skills and maybe hammers. Maybe she's the one who can summon Aska. XD

If they wanted more characters so they could have a martial artist, ranged fighter, specialized mage, theif.... There's plenty of reasons other (non-traitorous) characters could get lost in history, right?

As fun as that would be... I don't dare make a ToS Prequel for April Fools. Too many people would believe me, and we'd be dealing with questions about it for months. >_< The Tales of the Rings for GBA that I did a couple years ago was okay just because so few people cared, and because that was just an unlikely game concept (and because Gandalf was obviously Keel with a fake beard).
