There's this one song called "Aifread's Theme."
Is ToS Aifre(a)d supposed to be a cameo for this guy, or does he just purely coincidently share the same name? _________________ SOON.

Aifread is a crazy pirate guy who died a long time ago in ToE. I guess they just decided to make it a cameo appearance. He's a rather eccentric [dead] fellow. Just have a look at his tomb. _________________

| He's mentioned in ToP too, I think. At least, I find 'Ayflite' (hello, DeJap) to sound a lot like 'Aifread' (considering the -l/-r sound thing in Japanese... 'Aiflead' does sound quite similar). As the person bearing that name is also always a pirate, I assume it's a funny cameo, like Cid in the Final Fantasy games. Though I have no idea whether he's mentioned in other Tales games besides ToP, ToE and ToS or not... |

There's another ToE reference: Max and Lyla (Whose name is very similar probably Ayla in ToE. No relation to everyone's favorite cave person from Chrono Trigger) were both rebel soldiers.
And Max had some of the most awesome attacks in the whole game. Aqua spiral dishing out consecutive 3000ish hits... for 10 times per spell cast. _________________

Max was Fog in Japanese, and Lyla/Ayla isn't really similar enough by itself. (Even if it was the same name, they do reuse random NPC names occassionally, due to a lack of good names in the world.)
Anyway, Aifried the Pirate is just a Tales staple. Like the old man in a room full of cats. _________________
