it is a means to have safe, protected and non-reproductive sex which ideally would end pleasantly. |
Yes but you don't go out and buy condoms just for the fun of it now do you?
I'm not saying they're not a good idea or that they don't serve an important purpose or anything of that sort, I'm just questioning their "coolness" factor. |
coincidentally it turns out that you yourself are a condom |

Can we move on.
Clearly nobody got my initial comment which wasn't entirely serious in the first place and now it's escalated to the point where I have to explain to you that, while clearly useful and all, condoms are far from the height of must have fashion and, quite frankly, it's getting ridiculous.
Plus, I don't like the mockery of me that appears to be going on... _________________ The ember is dust before the wind... |

I don't even know where you got coolness factor from.
But the rest I agree with, no one buys condoms for the fun of it. Sex is the fun part, the condoms are just protection. Which I suppose is cool. _________________

Actually, multiple organizations in my country are really trying to put emphasis on how "cool" it is to use condoms.
Which I think is really cool.
Also, I remember what I was going to add earlier:
I didn't know about the lubricants. _________________ Also known as Sliv, Slivvie, Quilvius, Slivendiferious, slivijizzisious and many other names

That's actually a good idea. Drill it into the heads of unsuspecting teenagers quick enough and that may work. _________________

Alternatively, target 3 year olds so it becomes instinctive later on.
Might be taken badly by parents though... _________________ The ember is dust before the wind... |

Ryuu please just stop. Sex is not something you should be thinking about until puberty, and rightly so. _________________

Sorry, that was not meant to be taken seriously (it's obviously wrong on so many levels) but still I probably shouldn't have posted it in jest even. _________________ The ember is dust before the wind... |

It's not an overly complicated mechanism. The penis goes inside the way that rolls down. If you're afraid their brain can't comprehend this massive undertaking then what you're doing under or on-top-of them is definitely a personal question to be asking yourself. And if you're still SO WORRIED that the person you're sleeping with had their brain melt between your coffee-fueled invitation into your home and all of the nakedness, then you might want to go see a psychologist for trust issues. Or just take the pill too because you have actual control over that particular issue.
The fear of sex here is hilarious though. So keep going. |
Are you really trying to criticize me for NOT wanting to take a risk of getting pregnant with a one night stand's child?
It's not an overly complicated mechanism, yet a lot of people mess it up anyway. Whether that's due to ignorance, or another effect such as drunkenness, depends on the person. Secondly, if the condom does break, it's not worth the risk to hope you don't get pregnant. So then the girl has to go out, buy Plan B for $50, and endure a month or more of strange effects on her body because of this pill. (I'm not saying Plan B is bad in any way--I'm simply saying taking Plan B isn't a walk in the park, as it can have many different effects on different women) And yes, if the guy is a decent human being he'll offer to help pay for the Plan B, but if we're talking a one night stand, you often have no idea what kind of person you're dealing with, and who knows if they'll be polite enough to offer?
How is it so incredibly difficult to believe that I wouldn't want to get pregnant from a one night stand? As I said before, you don't really know the person, at all. (I'm not talking friends with benefits, by the way, one night stand implies someone you don't know.) You don't know how they would react, how they would handle you getting pregnant, or if they would help you out, at all. Mothers end up single all the time from boyfriends running out on them--I'd say the chances of a one night stand sticking by your side and helping you out aren't very great.
One night stands are when you don't know the person at all. You can't make any judgements before you sleep with them because you have no idea as to what kind of person they are.
If a girl is on two forms of birth control, such as the pill and using condoms, great! You're a lot safer that way and most likely can have things such as one night stands without much fear of a risk at all. But for me, when I'm not able to use the pill (been on it before, had terrible effects from it) and can only use condoms, I'll choose to sleep with people I know or care about instead. I'm not shaming one night stands AT ALL---I'm simply saying that for me, the risk of becoming pregnant (or hey, contracting a STD) doesn't outweigh the benefits of sleeping with a stranger.
Sleeping with someone you know does not decrease the chances of getting pregnant. But again, PERSONALLY, it's not worth the risk of what could happen if I had a one night stand. Sorry, but that doesn't make me an idiot - I know how to use condoms. It's just something I would probably not do. |

Don't write it off completely on your experience with one pill, different brands have radically different effects on people. I'm not an expert by any means, but my girlfriend had to try a few different pills before finding one that worked well for her without bad effects. Doesn't sound like a very fun prospect, though, she did it years ago for medical reasons. |

I can concur with the different pills thing. One that my ex used to be on made her so hormonal she once burst into tears when she found out that our local supermarket had started selling candy she liked. Needless to say she went straight back to the doctors and they set her up on a different pill and there's been absolutely no ill effects since.
I also have a friend who got that weird implant thing they put in your arm, although that made her go completely insane so she got it removed after like a month :/
Also just curious, what's the deal with the pill in the states? Is it still stupidly expensive? _________________
