Plus if the game's going to be localized, the decision was probably taken a long time ago already. _________________

Namco's been picking up plenty of games to localize lately that have done a lot worse than this in Japan, so it doesn't really say much about a localization at this point. _________________

Agree. I have a feeling they may have even already started it. _________________

Project X Zone is the clear example, and the licensing is probably worse than any Tales game.
Hoping they consider God Eater 2... and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: All Stars Battle!
OT: that's what I meant about my first post. Rothy didn't even think about other factors and just decided that sales numbers were the instant factor in localizing X2. _________________

Neither can I actually. Big crossover RPGs have a weird history with being localized here. I know the Super Robot Wars games with their intense anime licensing are a "Not going to happen because you can't afford it U.S." situation, but as for other games:
*Namco x Capcom: Not localized (2005 in Japan)
*Chaos Wars: Localized 2008 (albeit poorly but at least it's playable)
*Endless Frontier: Localized 2009
*Cross Edge: Localized 2009
*Endless Frontier EXCEED: Not localized (2010 in Japan; this particular case makes no sense to me but it's about the same crap that happened with the Radiant Myth trilogy)
*Trinity Universe: Localized 2010
*Project X Zone: Localized 2013
*Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem: No info at this stage, but I have a feeling it's coming when they start putting more detail in
Overall though, we've been having slightly better results with crossovers than I originally predicted in the last five years.
Off topic here for a moment, but does anyone else think we appreciate crossovers more here than they do in Japan? |

That's his reasoning.
Their target was way inflated though, 500k is very good (better than Graces f and Vesperia PS3, IIRC) so there's nothing to worry about here.
Direct sequels like this usually tend to sell less than their predecessor anyway. |
Actually, it is because many Japanese companies take Japanese sales into consideration when deciding localizations. Typically, we are less likely to get something if it doesn't sell well in Japan.
Which is pretty stupid logic. Just because Japan doesn't buy a game doesn't mean we won't buy it.
Luckily this attitude is changing, but some companies still hang on to this obsolete business logic.

I still think Xillia 1's US/EU sales will be the deciding factor. I don't think Namco has any final plans yet, they are probably waiting to see how Xillia 1 does. That's what I think, anyways. _________________ Currently playing: テイルズオブエクシリア |

But any actual release info yet?

Yes, but I was referring to the other games in the list when I said that. I don't think any of those games sold as well as SRW or marginally came close. Heck, Japan apparently had next to no love for PXZ. |

| I believe we know as much as Japan does: next to nothing. All we know is that it's an RPG and is going to be on Wii U. No release for any region yet. |

Yes, I think it's very safe to say that Xillia's sales will be more or less the deciding factor. It's a direct sequel, so it basically requires knowledge of the first game, and it also uses the same game engine, and is more or less all in the same style with the same battle system. If Xillia tanks here it would be totally nonsensical to bring over Xillia 2, assuming it costs roughly as much to localize. _________________
