Well, I'm not sure how the game ends so I can't really tell.

If there's one thing that could make the game epic epic... it could be... uh... if the Motorville part was a bit bigger. How about 2 different worlds with side quests, main quests... well, let's just say more exploration to do, shall we? I often went back to Motorville, expecting some hidden items or sidequest. Sadly, there wasn't really any aside from the main story part.

It drove me nuts how you couldn't enter the park -_-

Harbinger wrote:
As for you, lil Suiky, what should be their primary focus? Better AI? Same cast but a bit older? New cast? Sequel? Prequel?

One of the major complaints from most people was the simplistic AI. So that should be a top priority when getting to gameplay.

It'd be nice to be able to rename familiars too. :O
Maybe give them more diverse forms and colors. Too many of em felt similar to another.

Allow for different outfits!

I don't think we'd need a prequel since most of the later backstory is regarding stuff thousands of years ago anyway. Idk, but they actually need give more backstory on characters and actually give them freakin' endings.

What kinda stuff would you like to see?

Um... the park! --- I kind of have a blank in my mind. Where's the park you speak of? I know there was an invisible wall in Motorville... was it in Motorville?

Ally AI needs to be made better for sure. I thought the enemy AI was fine. They could have had a bit more synergy between them though! I always targeted those "monsters" who could one-shot you. I once faced 2 of them at once and they killed 2 allies within 5 seconds. I had to run away Sad

Suikoden2 wrote:

I thought there was quite a bit of diversity in the familiar --- only to realize that the "new" monsters I encountered was just evolved version of the previous ones. I was kind of disappointed when I learned that --- I mean, I thought I could have different (but similar looking) familiar with completely different abilities! I always used the "recommended names" anyway. Being able to rename them would be nice Smile

Well, there's an ending... just lackluster Surprised It's also kind of a cliffhanger maybe... it leaves a lot of room for a sequel.

Imagine this drama ---> Imagine if Marta and Esther develop a crush on Oliver (Well, in the case of Marta, she DID call Oliver a prince)... what would happen O_o

Suikoden2 wrote:

I would kind of like a story that sets place around 10 years later. Oliver studied hard in his own world, but his heart felt empty. I mean, after being such a great Wizard and all, I can hardly see anyone settle down for a calm life. One day, he decides to "return" to the other world (to see his friends) but is unable to cast Gateway. A foul magic prevents him from using it. The story now focus around Esther for a time, for her world is now under a new threat. During those 10 years, she learned to use a lot of magic and she set on a quest to find a way to go to Oliver's world and bring him back to hers to save the world once again!

Something like that...

Question time!

Was my randomly made up story a bit too cliche?

Nah I like the whole turnout where you'd be mostly playing as her as opposed to Oliver. She's the kid of a sage; she should be really interesting when she's older!

At what point would you make Oliver accessible?

Wasn't sure what to expect Wink But again, I haven't played Pokemon, so the idea of evolving your familiar was kind of new to me (not new to Pokemon though!)

Well, when I first learned that she was the daughter of the Sage, I was like "BIOLOGICALLY, THIS DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. She's blond, blue eyes --- both recessive trait! --- While dark eyes and dark skin is a dominant trait!" ... unless she's kind of albinos...? Oh well, I should apply logic to JRPG, or my head would explode!

Regardless, she's still an interesting fellow Razz

Suikoden2 wrote:

Esther will be on her world. She misses Oliver (wink wink). During those 10 years, she learned a lot of spells. While she can't cast Gateway, she learned a somewhat similar spells. It's a spell that allows her to speak to people in other worlds! Her spell has worked in the past 9 years and half. After learning that spell, she was able to communicate with Oliver weekly. Something went terribly wrong in her world and she tried to communicate with Oliver and ask for his help. --- but it has stopped working around the same time when the trouble began. Her inability to communicate with Oliver pushes her to seek out answers. She set on a journey to find the cause of her inability to communicate with Oliver.

It's a little different from most game. The story of Esther and Oliver will happen simultaneously. As Esther is trying to find the cause, Oliver is also trying to find out why he can't use Gateway. He was worried about Esther and his friends since he had heard no news from them for months. He tried to cast Gateway many times but to no avail. He was cut off from them.

The game would about Esther and Oliver being "soulmate" (not the Ni No Kuni definition of soulmate... more like they are very much alike ^_^). For instance, a certain person is broken hearted in Oliver's world, but he cannot heal his heart, for it is blocked by a barrier. The cause of the barrier exists in Esther's world. Esther would fight the nightmare in her world, and upon defeating it, the barrier vanish in Oliver's world. It's like if they helped together without even knowing it!

Each of them would work in their own respective world to solve the mystery. After solving the mystery, the foul magic that blocks their world is gone and Oliver is able to travel in Esther's world.

After a series of trial, they are reunited and try to uncover the source of Chaos in her world.

*Just for fun... non-cannon*

The source of Chaos in her world is in fact the imaginary Parrot that the White Witch once had. He too, has transcended the barrier between imaginary and reality. The Parrot breaks the heart of people with ease, insert nightmare into them or can even use Manna. He's able to summon monsters from his imagination and turn them into reality.

Question time!

SO? What do you think?

I freakin' like these ideas dude! Why haven't they hired yeh Har!? That parrot is a good choice for antagonist. They didn't do enough with em imo. :/

Only real question would be is how has the parrot survived all this time after the White Witch had been dealt with? Was he able to due to the Witch's stronger than usual connection with him?

Would he harrass the very kingdoms of Esther's world!?

Using this as the next question!

Where would his hideout be?!

(Sorry, I tried to post this last night but TSF was acting funky...)

The "split" team idea kind of came from Xenosaga (mostly the first game). Being able to experience the story through multiple main characters was awesome.

I thought the Perot would be kind of be... umm... her familiar or something. That's how I pictured it. It was such a sad sight to witness his demise from reality Sad

*Not really a spoilers if you played the game for 1 hour...*

Well, if you paid attention to small details, it was the Perot who had cast the spell that would ultimately cause the death of Oliver's mother (his eyes turned red).

He was able to affect realities in other worlds. That situation kind of indicate that he already has become "real". His physical form may have vanished, but his consciousness still remains IMO Wink Perhaps his own imagination will give birth to his new body?

Suikoden2 wrote:

He would make Manna rain around the world. He would break the heart of people in Esther's world and in Oliver's world. He would create nightmares in all worlds.

Perhaps his goal would be to destroy the soulmates of his opponents. He might go for Marta instead of Esther, for she is much weaker in Oliver's world. Oliver would protect her --- and by doing so, will save Esther.

Suikoden2 wrote:

He's a wandering spirit. He doesn't have a permanent body and can temporally posses the thoughts of brokenheated people. Wherever he goes, Chaos awakens on his path.

Oliver has grown older and stronger (well at very least, physical strength). Can't have a "last boss" weaker than previous boss, can't we? (Taking a deep look at Final Fantasy series... I'm not a huge fan of that series TBH. I didn't play the older FF.)

Suikoden2 wrote:

First phase: Familiar of the possessed fellow.
Second phase: The possessed fellow himself/herself.
Third phase: Evil manifestation of the Perot.
Last phase: Takes on a form similar to the previous White Witch. However, the appearance would be more "bird-like" ie feather.

Question time!

Do you believe there's only 2 "worlds" or do you believe there's more than 2 worlds?

Dun dun dun! I don't mind being spoiled a little. Unexpected though... still need to finish the after-story quests Surprised I just finished beating most of the Rift Bosses.

Of course! Maybe if NNK2 was a little more mature and we people died in that sequel... we'll get to see what really happens once a soulmate dies Surprised I guess that's why we 'don't' kill monsters. It could be someone's pet's soulmate out there somewhere.

What's your favorite scene in the game?

Albedo can regenerate endlessly. After he died, he came back to "life" stronger. It would be pretty disheartening trying to beat him.

B-but... this monster had a dream. She only wanted you to listen to her Sad Why did you have to attack her and hurt her feelings O_o

I love Oliver's reaction to how they leave. Laughing

They definitely came out. =/

Hm....

Is your fave character Esther!?

No, not really. I like her attitude! It adds some funny moments in the game Smile

Oliver's my favorite character, followed by Esther and Mitey. I just discovered that big boy's miracle move was a "guaranteed" steal -_-

I just entered Motorville Surprised Do I still have a long journey ahead? Surprised

Question!

Who was your favorite character? (and familiar)

Albedo can regenerate endlessly. After he died, he came back to "life" stronger. It would be pretty disheartening trying to beat him.

Yes, but did he achieve godhood!?

Well, the Jelly balloon guy was quite hard. He kept interrupting my Mornstar Sad I kind of hate that spell now --- too easy to fail it.

It helps me that I've movement+ gear on.

Her voice would only cause chaos and destruction!

Y'see she was born underground and it was her singing that gave way to the volcano you see today!

Oliver! He isn't like most emo/whiny teenage protagonists that most rpgs have now.

He also overcame a lot of tough stuff durin' his travels...

As fer familiars...

Tough call!

I like dis one VVV

While type of transportation did you favor more? By land, water or sky?

Testaments are pretty much unkillable by conventional means.

Sad I used defensive items.

Sad I checked on-line a bit ago and I'm a bit disappointed by the lack of post-end-game content Sad I still need to kill those robots, do S rank in the arena, present 3 fully evolved familiar and a few other missions.

Is the guardian of the World stronger every time you face him? The first time I did him rather easily. The 2nd time he nearly rocked me. I used over 30 revive and 4 revive all, along with 20+ coffee Surprised I have to admit that my "luck" wasn't too good with that gamble spell Surprised

Indeed! I still remember that Edge emo after the destruction of the alternative Earth *shivers inside*. If the "emo" thing is well done, I'm fine with it (Karol's emo time in the beginning of ToV).

Yeah, I just remembered Surprised

Air is pretty cool --- but sadly, there wasn't much to discover aside from a few minor places. Seas was rather disappointing. They should have had more "exploration" that could only be done by ship. Ship was just there until we get the dragon (and for a few new familiar to capture!).

I kind of miss the hidden dungeons or the additional dungeons/areas. I think the most disappointing part of the game was the lack of new game+. There's so many familiars --- you could have taken a whole new bunch Surprised

Question time!

What do you wish the game had?

A new game+? A super hard end-game dungeon(s)? No-voice after the main story (character speech)?

Here's somethin'

"Bonus Dungeon: Moya Island in Jet-Black Mage had a 100-floor tower accessed with Item Crafting of all things, with all-new more powerful enemies and Palette Swap of bosses that will mop the floor with your Lv.99 party if you aren't careful enough. Shazar (Gallus in the English version) is awaiting you at the last floor, and he is on-par with Bonus Boss from the Persona series, a welcome change from the easy main quest. There is another pirate Bonus Dungeon hidden in a star-shaped island.

It was replaced in White Witch with a portal to the Final Dungeon, but its monsters were reused at various points, like many other Bonus Boss from Jet-Black Mage. Gallus himself was reused as The Dragon for the White Witch, but was considerably Nerfed (he no longer has two phases): another Bonus Boss (who can be faced after clearing all other boss rematches) replaced him as the ultimate challenge."

I think gets stronger only once after the first time you kill em.

Yeah I can forgive that. His issue is somewhat understandable.

I guess there's maybe just enough 'end-game?' quests but really not much else. Arena really doesn't cut it either.

NNK could've definitely benefited from that 100 floor dungeon! New game plus wouldn't have hurt either. Carried over familars would've been cool. :/

If there was a new game plus, what kind of things would you think should be allowed to be carried over?
