That just makes them more insane.
It's quite the opposite of Prometheus. That movie starts off with the mystery of who are the Engineers, things deteriorate and then the people attempt to rationalize all the **** that's going on or at least they don't give a **** anymore. When When the **** hits the fan, the viewer should already be in brain-OFF mode so Prometheus provides a smoother ride.

The problem is that Shinji starts off like, "It's been 14 years? Alright. You don't trust me? Okay. I can see the sky from the Geofront, nice." He's cool with everything for the first half of the movie before he starts questioning what's going on, ass-backwards.

That's the entire point though. It makes no sense for him to act like that given his character at the end of the last movie. That's what makes it like Prometheus.

Prometheus also has this horrible problem with never making up its mind if it wants to tell its own completely separate story (faith vs. SCIENCE! allegory about humans looking for the aliens who created humans) or if it wants to capture the spirit of a popular earlier work (shoehorned Alien references). dun dun dunnnn what do you think makes Rebuild such a cluster****?

And this happened in the original Evangelion?

And this happened in the original Evangelion?

From time to time. Consider the following:

Quote:
Quote:
The alien part of the setting is important to put the viewer into shini's shoes.

Yeah, it's alien because it completely contradicts what's shown in 2.0. It doesn't make sense because the writers CLEARLY changed their mind in full public view after that part of the story had already been written. If the only way you can think of throwing your audience through a loop involves sacrificing all story context whatsoever, you're doing it wrong.

Quote:
3.33 is a return to Eva's more esoteric nothing-is-presented-on-the-surface style of story telling

A nothing-is-presented-on-the-surface style of story telling is not the same thing as... whatever the **** 3.0 is doing. Eva TV gave you what initially seemed like a typical 80s-90s super robot series on the surface but ended up having lots of character psychology and political intrigue underneath, and it was clever at doing that. 3.33's style is to literally not even attempt to justify a single thing that is happening on any level, and its followers are duped into thinking leaving the audience to speculate every single half-assed detail of the story is brilliant writing.

Quote:
Quote:
It's just as likely that Shinji and everyone are being lied to about who's responsible for N3I.

This explanation doesn't even begin to make sense. How is this possible when we see Misato and Ritsuko outside watching the damn thing happen, and they can easily discern a Third Impact that only gets as far as blowing up part of the city from a different Third Impact that drastically changes Japan's landscape and permanently ****s up the world for everyone else?

The original series wasn't a flawless masterpiece, but it never went completely into Rebuild's straight-up popcorn movie stupidity.

Yes. You'll just be missing some things about the oceans being red and Kaworu and his secret moonbase.

If you're enjoying it, then why not watch it again in HD with cleaned up visuals? Just stick to the first and second movies.

Congratulations to Mr. Sadamoto, because he just given Neon Genesis Evangelion the ending it deserved in the manga:
