Additionally, is to too much of a stretch to consider it a good candidate for multi-platform release??? Also, Vesperia was released in 2008, we didn't get the next mothership titles till 2012. >_o
There would be work involved, like getting the actors back (which is probably the same amount of work if NB doesn't have Xill 2's lines recorded yet and when they had the actors on them, or hopefully scheduled them again). But we went through quite a drought where I'm sure would have been a good time frame; made worse my NB's rather tight lip about anything to do with it (and pestering them worked for Graces so....)

We know (it's not speculation) that MS paid for a one year exclusivity contract in Japan. It wasn't going to be simul-multiplat.

I'm doubtful. I think it was more of a change of attitude after Enslaved flopped.

There's definitely some aspect of fan input in tales
Localizations or they wouldn't be giving baba trips to
America to meet with the fanbase. Doesn't seem like they're pulling in anyone else. |

I think it was that whole time period; they wanted the Clash of the Titans movie-based game to sell something like 500k or some ridiculous number (and you KNOW the reputation of movie-based games is usually for a well-founded reason).
One year exclusivity doesn't seem that bad, and certainly nothing so bad as to stop a PS3 release with, what, the four years between Vesperia's release and Graces.
I dunno. I like GinRei said. The nails are in the coffin, but they're in crooked.
I just want to know what the heck a "Tales-filled year" will mean by this point.

Them flying Baba in for various events is a way of hyping the fans for upcoming releases. Not really about gathering input.
I do think the continuous spam had a small effect of them being aware people still want Tales - but I don't think the decision to bring Graces rather than another title was made due to people specifically requesting that title.

I think he meant Baba wouldn't be here unless there was some serious fanbase here (say, in comparison to the guy who produces the Atelier series or Harvest Moon -- who really cares? There's a bigger fanbase to justify certain peeps to leave Japan and promote it seems).
And I could have sworn one of the big pushes for Graces was because NB was getting a TON of emails regarding it (something to the tune of 50k).

The exclusivity contract is a fact in Japan.
Its existence is unknown elsewhere. A PR once cited one, but she retracted her statement. People took this as fact that a contract does not exist. It's possible, but it also sounds a lot like PR speak for "I said something I shouldn't have."
The link you gave doesn't say anything about how they decided on Graces. They said they received requests for Tales. I can guarantee they weren't all for Graces.

^ I just hate that damn outfit. But yeah, she turned out really well, and I don't really even like those figures.
The Alter Estelle figure was also shown -- and goodness...she's lovely
Flammie: That's why I followed up with the business-y conclusion. I know it's not just emails or whatever exclusivity, there's obviously dollars and cents going into what they consider. Chances are, VesPS3 was just not within whatever limited resources they had or didn't see it as being terribly profitable (I'd argue otherwise, but I think my feelings for Vesperia are pretty transparent).

I saw it there, but I saw it last night too, sorry. DIdn't mean to ignore but ti also fit with the doll-posting.

I freaking love Milla like a crazy person, but ever since her ToX2 outfit was revealed I just can't...ugh, I don't even want to LOOK at her ToX outfit lol. I wanted to get this doll, but I'm not sure now. She isn't as cute in this chibi style as Yuri and Flynn are. Plus, her figure didn't even come with chibi Milla so it's weird.
I really hope they make a chibi Estelle plush, because I'm probably going to preorder that figure instead of the Milla plush. I KNOW, BLASPHEMY.

Only Vesperia figurines got chibis for whatever reason. Jude and Luke didn't get chibi figurines either.
I hope Alter stops making Vesperia figurines and moves onto other games. (They already have five figurines, despite Estelle and Flynn not even being that popular. Flynn by himself isn't all that popular, he's only popular with Yuri.) Ludger, Leia, or Gaius figs would be nice.
