GameFaqs had a poll on this the other day and remember choosing that I'm indifferent because I don't think they've put out anything of quality recently.
Like Zelos mentioned SotE was a good game but that was a long time ago. _________________ *Sig by WarriorAngel01*

Yeah, all of the good recent Star Wars games were externally developed (i.e. the Battlefield series, KOTOR). _________________

Was Force Unleashed an internal game? It was fun. _________________

Ubisoft confirmed its E3 Conference for June 10th.
No, I will not make the E3 topic this year. Flamfas can have it. |

It has a lot more than that going for it.
But anyway, the Mario whoring was a bit excessive yesterday, but at least the games are all different. We get a minigame/boardgame (Mario Party), sports game (Golf), RPG (Brothers in Time), Minis (is that a ... puzzle game? idk, zoned out), etc. _________________ Gaming in 2013:

The lack of flip note 3D was disappointing, but don't forget the Wii U panorama BS. _________________

The name is Mario-centric, but the games aren't. And main appeal of these games certainly isn't just Mario. At this point, there's just nothing else to call it or it's too late to change the name. Imagine if they started titling it differently. Nintendo Party, Nintnedo Kart, Nintendo Golf, etc. _________________ Support XSEED | Listen to Falcom music | Do life the right way

Yeah but at the same time these are all extensions of very long-running series'. Even if the focus is on different genres, and even if you look past the Mario branding...These are all sequels.
I mean that's why New Super Mario Bros. is so bland. They are basically EA/CoD-style Mario games. The frequency of their releases is insane.
I think that Mario is integral to these games, though. Take Wii Party for example: it wasn't bad, but it can't compete with Mario Party.
I don't think "Mario-whoring" is a problem, it's an inevitability, but I do think it's time for Nintendo to start delivering on some modern game elements (online play for Mario Party) and bring back some big things that people have been clamoring for (RPG mechanics in the next Mario Tennis, maybe.) Something a bit more substantial than, say, a joined world map in NSMBU.
Thinking about it...There are a lot of great Mario franchises, but I think 3D Land was the only Mario title on the 3DS or Wii U with any uniqueness. =/ (At least Luigi's Mansion 2 was only the first sequel, and to a very old game to boot, so it gets some points there. Multiplayer sounds fun, too.) _________________
