Sweet. I was a bit suspicious because of how fast the game seemed to be coming out, but it's nice to know Nintendo and Iwata are behind a game as big as an LttP Sequel. Looking forward to this. |
Actually OoT3D was "outsourced" (still done by a Nintendo team, just not the usual Zelda team), so I'm not that surprised. _________________ Gaming in 2013:

yeah i know, but OoT3D was just a graphics and interface touch up so it's not really the same thing _________________

I was very skeptical when Phantom Hourglass was in development, but I thought the controls in the DS titles were very well done. They made me believe an action game with touch controls could be amazing. It was the repeated dungeon thing that drags the games down for me.
Still, I'm glad they're moving on from touch controls. They were good, but we're done now. Zelda could use some more variety. _________________ Yasuraka ni... |

I wasn't a big fan of the touch controls in PH and ST but they were sorta bearable enough for me to get through the games. I'm pretty hyped for this title though. I really like that they're combining the top-down perspective with 3D graphics.

ROADIE HI HOW ARE YOU
And yeah, Shy, the touch controls did work, and I didn't completely hate them, but I still prefer the traditional input style for Zelda. Glad that seems to be the case with this game.

yeah I just meant we can effectively ignore that and say the last handheld Zelda was Spirit Tracks, so one this year isn't unreasonable. _________________ Gaming in 2013:

The only thing I didn't like about the DS controls was, like with Mario and Luigi, microphone control. I didn't have too much trouble with most of the Spirit Flute segments in Spirit Tracks, but holy mackerel, that one fire song just would not register my notes correctly. I don't even know what it was about that song, every other piece would let me pass after a couple tries at most.
I'm usually of the mind that a traditional control style should always be an option where applicable though, and I didn't like the lack of one. |

I'm actually kinda more iffy on the 3D element. It looks like they're "Harold and Kumar"-ing it. Where, in the 3D movie they made it deliberately ridiculous 3D, and a snazzy effect saved only for when things come FLYYING* at the screen and in SUPER COOL SLO-MO*. The trailer shows you destroying skeleton monster, only to see there bones briefly FLY up. *groan*. It was a nasty habit of early 3D films to have something fly at the screen to wow audiences or something.

Wait, Where does it say that Iwata is working on this game? |

Har har.
To clarify, I was referring to Zelda controls in general. The DS titles controls weren't so bad that I'd find myself wishing for a controller. However, that ended up being the case in SS. _________________
